Alarm system problem

My kids went out to get into my unlocked 2005 xlt ford escape. I last drove it last evening witout issue. Shortly AFTER they got in the alarm went off. I pushed the alarm button on the keys from inside the house and it went off, only to go off again a couple of more times. When I went out there and put the key in theignition, it would not turn. Also the red alarm light is flashing on the dashboard. Tried both coded keys nothing!

When you say wouldn't turn you mean the lock cylinder won't rotate or the engine wont crank? The kids (ages?) could set the alarm..they wouldn't shove anything in the key lock..right...? The security light is because the alarm went off. If the right key goes all the way in and wont rotate to start take the load off the steering wheel or shake the wheel back and forth while doing the same with the key. When it went off later were the kids still in there? if not the battery may be low (interior lights on for a while).

SOURCE: Ford F150 Pickup 2005 power doors unlock but will not lock

I had almost the identical problem on my 2005 F150 FX4 Extended cab last weekend. The power door locks would not lock using the keypad, remotes, or door buttons. Almost all other functions worked correctly. The doors unlocked, the radio delay functioned, and the interior lights dimmed. When I used the remote the horn would beep twice indicating that a door was open even there was no message on the message center that a door was open. When I used the keypad or remote, I could hear a soft click from behind the seat. I think it was coming from the body security module or body security module - whatever Ford is calling it this year. I pulled the fuse for the Power Door Locks(BSM). As I removed it, I heard a soft click - sort of like a relay resetting. It may have come from the VSM/BSM. It may have possibly been a stuck actuator releasing. I don't think so. It wasn't that load. In any case, everything is functioning correctly now.

SOURCE: 2005 Ford Escape - Door Open Indication Light & Horn Alarm Sounds

This is probably caused by:

a loose door switch, or

a loose connection to a door switch, or

a defective (dirty / corroded) door switch.

There is a false signal being sent that a door is open / ajar.

SOURCE: 1992 ford econoline club wagon van alarm randomly activates

I have the same problem on my Chateau, Can't buy new module, probably cost a fortune anyway. Disconnect the Grey connector on the alarm control module. I left the black on on for no special reason. Your power door locks will no longer work. (I'm not sure about the horn. If it doesn't I'll do something else)
The black control module is located on side of the van about 1 foot behind the drivers seat. Remove 2 plastic push in clips and yank the panel away to gain access to the module.

SOURCE: Need 2 reset alarm..if I

There is more than likely a sequence to resetting the alarm, is the batterys in the remote flat as they are only 3 volts a piece (6 volts).

2005 ford escape need alarm sensor location

This is not like an aftermarket alarm. It is built into the main computer and uses both the horn and the lights to sound a warning. The keyswitch has a reader and the ignition key must match the frequency recorded in the brain of the vehicle. It also kills the power to the starter and some even kill the ignition.

A shorted Battery will trigger the alarm, so have it fully tested. The reader and the wiring to the brain could also have a break in them, triggering the system. Sometimes worn ignition switches will lose contact with the key inside the switch.

The alarm is engineered to render the car immobile if tampered with. But a Dealer can Electronically recode a new Chip key to match

Wher do you install a cabin filter on a 2005 Ford Escape XLT?

Yes you have one and it runs about $15.00.

Looking for a picture for you but it should be in the engine compartment area, passenger side, just below the windshield on the firewall area...or JUST above it.

But looking for a picture for you. It states that you should change it about every 150,000 miles.
