i have exactly the same problem, i've got to shell out £75.00 for a diagnostic check from the dealer! Any idea how much its going to cost in total to sort out?

If you look under the passenger well you'll see a couple of black breaker connectors one of them will be loose .

Thanks, so much for this, I tried it out, found the little black boxes and one was loose, pushed it back in and it worked, saved us so much money! Thanks again!

The problem will be one of the relays in the passenger footwell under the glove box, it will probably be dislodged by someones size 18 feet.

Hi,
Sheres my solution...My rear brake light had gone(indicator and reverse light ok), the right dipped headlight had gone and also the automatic lights didn't work.
I solved it by first checking the rear light (as it was first to go) and condensation had got into the light. Looking at the bulb panel, it looked like it had shorted out. So I bought a pair of bulbs for it and a replacement bulb holder (ebay £13 inc del, Renault dealer £58 without fitting!). Replacing that was easy, as you just unscrew the back light from inside the boot, and unclip the holder + replace it with the bulb etc.
After that, the brake light worked but the rear light still was off. So I went to the fuse box (located on the dash edge, accessable by opening the passenger door) and pulled out + checked each fuse one by one.
I found that the condensation had shorted the rear bulb holder and blown the fuse. After replacing the fuse, the automatic lights and the dipped headlight, and the rear light worked fine.
So it seems that they are all linked in to eachother in some way, so fix your obvious problems first and you might find other things start working as well!
Hope it helps,
A

One common wire supplies all three, so trace backwards using test lamp to find where power exists and fix bad connection.

I have a 2001 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo that did not come with fog lights but has the plugs for the bulbs. I purchased the fog lights plugged them in but they didn't turn on. I was wondering if there...

If this vehicle came prewired, and all you had to do was plug in the fog lamps, then 50A fuse 7 in the power distribution center would be hot at all times, applying power to 15A fuse 24 and the fog lamp relay. Setting the left multifunction switch to FOG causes the body control module to close the fog lamp relay and turn on the fog lamps. It is possible your Jeep came prewired but without the fuses and relay so a dealer could install them to make your fog lamps work. You can check whether the fuses are in the box and OK and whether the fog lamp is installed or just an empty socket. Once everything has been checked and any missing parts installed, your fog lights should work.

Rear fog light not working.2004 toyota rav4

I guess that your refering to the backup lights? They have their own fuse and aren't imune to having the bulbs burnt out. The bulbs are easiest to check as they may be black in color or knocked out of their holders. The back up light switch is part of the neutral start switch and they will have other problems like no start if it's bad. wiring and their plugs are also possible mainly if the car as been in an accident or other bending action.

Could you take out a bulb and with a testlight/probe check that you do in fact have power to that circuit .Also check that they are the correct bulb for that application I have seen people put indicator bulbs in where therse supposed to be a double filament bulb.Does the base of the bulbs lead contacts line up with the two steel terminals inside the plug?
