Question about 1983 Chevrolet S-10
I have a 1983 Chevrolet Tahoe S-10 pickup. I drove it to the store itcranked and ran fine. Got back to the house shut it off as normal. Thenhad to go back out to get my son. The truck wouldn't crank, so Ithought ok it's out of gas. So put $7.00 worth of gas in it and stillwouldn't crank. It turns over but no start. So then it seemed as if thebatterywas draining, so I jumped it off and still no start. Even went as faras to put another Battery(hot) in it, but still the same thing. Turnover, but NO start. It sounds as if the battery is running down all ofthese times. I'm going to check tomorrow to make sure the terminals areok, but I'm thinking if it was the terminals then it wouldn't be tringto turn over. let me know of anything that I can do to get it cranked.I need this vehicle for it is the only one I have.
Ok I made sure the terminals was ok and they are. I made sure it was getting fire on the first spark plug and it is. also put gas in the carb and its getting gas.also the plugs are wet at tips. I'm very confused about this. It just keeps turning over and not starting.. so what do you suggest next. i don't think it has jumped time, because it has been cranking and running good up til now.

Hi scorioleo, yes, check that the battery terminals are clean. U can clean them up with a wire brush/sandpaper, coat w/ grease to prevent future corrosion buildup. If the terminals have corrosion on them, it could result in the battery havng trouble turning the engine over. Is the engine turning over too slowly (even w/ new battery) in your opinion? Next to check is spark. Pull off a plug wire, if u have a spare spark plug around, attach it to the wire, place away from moving parts, have someone turn key, check for spark at plug tip. Do this out of the sun, and the spark should be easy to see. If u have good spark, next to check is if fuel is reaching spark plugs. After attempting to start several times (only turn key to start position for about 10 seconds, wait about 10 seconds, try again. This is because it's tough on the starter to just keep turning the engine over w/out start up), after several attempts, pull a spark plug and check tip, it should be wet w/ fuel. If it's dry after trying several times to start, u may need a fuel pump (but 1st I'd replace the fuel filter, if it's plugged up, u can have a no fuel at plugs problem). Check this out, give me the results of checking the above, and let me know what u find, we'll continue from there.
