Question about Lincoln Town Car

99 town car intermitent wiper function inoperable

This function does not work. When set to intermitent function wipers operate at full speed. When washer is pressed wipers will not shut off until car is turned off.

Replaced wiper motor twice, after first replacement it worked fine for about a week.
Replaced multi function swith

Heard about plugin unit in dash for intermitent wiper function but, unable to locate or find info on it yet.

I performed a Web search using "lincoln wiper intermittent speed box" . There were diagrams and parts showing components. You should be able to find what you need after reading your search material. I once changed out a similar part in a 1984 Ford Thunderbird. My part was hanging behind the instrument panel and about midway up in the drivers' dash cavity.

SOURCE: I have replaced the Multi-Function switch and the

Check the wiper motor relay.  If that is good, put the old MFC switch in and see if the wipers work.  If they do then you have a bad MFC switch.  If they don't, then a bad wiper motor.

SOURCE: Washer wiper not working, possibly used when

the fuse is the same as for the wipers and push on washer switch and see if you can hear washer pump run, otherwise try this (unless the motor pump has been dry run too long and ruined pump assy) and can't pump any longer go to a garage that has compressed air and at the wiper nozzles first gently blow air into each nozzle, then go to reservoir and remove supply hose to wiper nozzles and blow air gently and see if there's an obstruction in the line, you can use say 30 lbs max, reason being if any hoses where you cant get to them they can blow off fittings, also take air hose and on top of reservoir blow into hole on top of reservoir to push product thru lines and help pump (same as removing hose) on reservoir, I bet its unprimed itself or blocked with dirt, try this first

Where can I find the fuse for the wipers for my 2002 Lincoln town car

Highly doubtful it being a blown fuse . Fuse's don't just blow , short circuit to ground or high current draw . Faulty component , wiper motor , wiper control module more likely . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on body & accessories . then under subsystem click on wiper / washer , Click the search button ,then the blue link . Looking at the diagram i see the wiper switch is a input to the wiper control module .

The windshield wipers are controlled by the wiper control module and the driver-operated multi-function switch on the steering column, with the ignition switch in RUN or ACC position.
There are four modes of wiper operation: OFF position, the wipers move to and stay in the park position; Interval position, the wiper control module causes the wipers to cycle, separated by pauses, pause time length being determined by switch location; LO position, the wipers will operate at low speed continuously; HI position, the wipers will operate at high speed continuously.
The windshield washers are controlled by pressing inward on the wiper switch end of the multi-function switch. The washers will operate as long as the switch is depressed. If the wipers are in the OFF or Interval operating mode, the wipers will begin in LO speed and the washer pump will pump fluid from the reservoir to the nozzles. When the switch is released, the wipers will complete three cycles and then return to their previous setting. In LO or HI mode, no change in wiper operation will occur during washer operation.
The washer fluid level sensor is in the windshield washer reservoir (17618) and is monitored by the hybrid electronic instrument cluster (HEC) and displays a WASHER message when the fluid level is low. The washer fluid level sensor and windshield washer reservoir are replaced as an assembly.

Intermitent wipers somtimes they only work on fast speed sometimes they do not work at all and other times they are fine

you have variable speed intermitant wipers fitted to your audi, the duration is set by you...turn on,then turn off then turn on again when needed(upto 30 secs)and they will magically work at this timing.i am sure its in the handbook, somewhere.........

WIndshield Wipers only start on fastest speed

There are three things involved in wiper operation, switch, the delay circuit board and the motor. If you select winshield wash do the wipers operate normaly? if this is the case then the motor works and delay is operating < not a guaranty on delay but it does say the circuit is operating. If wash cycle does not work then circuit not working< could still be switch causing this> if you know someone or you yourself can remove switch it needs to be ohmed to know that it is operating and if it is then voltage during operation in all settings needs checked at wiper motor. If no voltage found in inoperable settings then delay is not working. While investigating problems like this always inspect wiring as you check from point to point because could be damaged wires as well.

Cruise Control, intermitent wipers acting up.

More then likely, the switch arm will have to be replaced, everything that contyrols your wipers and cruise are built into that left arm.

I hope this helps you.
