I have the same make and model and am also having the same problem after replacing the alternator. Even two mechanics can't correct it.

Causes of problem like yours can be:

  1. the alignment of the pulley of your alternator and the alignment of your engine's pulley. you may check it by just looking at it, be sure they are precisely parallel with each other.
  2. The size of the opening of your pulleys, you try to measure it using a caliper, they should have the same mouth size
  3. loose pulleys causing wiggle
  4. rusts on your pulleys
Hope I helped you

How to replace a 1995 2.4 v6 isuzu rodeo alternator belt?

Just do a search on google. (1995 2.4 v-6 Isuzu alternator belt diagram) There are plenty of diagrams showing the belt routing. Put the belt on all the pulleys you can. Take a wrench and pull back the tensioner, slip the last part of the belt over the last pulley. Then, release the tensioner arm and it will tighten up the belt. Turn it over and check it again to be sure it is on straight.

If the alternator belt was correctly tensioned, it could be a defective alternator. Have it tested. Warranty is usually good for at least a year.

You have greasy or a glaze on the drive pulleys. Clean them off with a brake cleaner sold at auto parts stores and install a belt dressing afterwards to eliminate the squeak

Is there a reset button on a 95 isuzu rodeo

I just read a post about the reset sequence - "(depress accelerator slightly, start engine, run for three seconds, shut off for ten seconds, then restart) it went back to normal and has run fine for months."

Volt meter shows drain and belt squeles when first start or when lites on . put new alt still have problem

start vehicle ,rub at 1500rpm then disconnect battery ,if engine carries on running alternator ok .think you just need to tension belt a bit more it sounds loose .This alternator is about 60amp output so if belt loose it will squeal .Thats a lot of power being transmitted on a small pulley

1995-96 Isuzu Rodeo transmission swapable?

No they are not compatible. They changed the crank between 95 and 96. I have a 96 that needed an engine swap and the dealer that I bought it from was paying for the engine, he bought a 95 engine and after a month of trying the mechanic said no way no how, the crank between the two is different.

Your alternator belt must be glazed or loose or both (hence the low volts), replace it or adjust it if it looks ok.
As far as the ticking goes it is the the cam followers, there is a TSB SB00-01-S009 released SEP 2000 that deals with this issue, I beleive it calls for replacing the cam followers with an improved part, this would be expensive like all Japanese cars the parts are very pricey.
