HI, not to long age i replaced my heater core in my 1991 Chevy S-10. Its not as hard as you mite think it would be, but its no a walk in the park.. :) There are a few things you need to remove. First the glove box door, ash tray, the panel that surrounds the stereo and stereo, also the tray that holds the ash tray and last inside the glove box there is a small plastic panel at the back remove that and that should do it if I remember right. Ok now the fun part, be prepared to get your hands a little bite beat up, you are going to need a lot of extension for your wratches, some antifreeze and lots of pattions also about three hours. It is a pretty big job. Get a shop manual from auto zone or AUTOBOOKSONLINE.COM
This requires the removal of the: Glove box, stereo, heater controls(cables), gauge cluster, head light switch, ashtray.. and basically anything else needed to remove the dash. The Core is buried in the heater box that can only be accessed with the dash removed.

Carpet in passengers side is wet. is it most likely the heater coil?

Yes, usually when there is coolant in the floor board of your vehicle, it is most likely a heater core issue. This could be a major ordeal as the heater core is deep down in the dash on the pacifiica, I do believe. if you decide to tackle this job yourself, let me know and i will try get you some step by step instructions

Where do i locate the heater core in a 1991 pontiac 6000le

The heater core is inside the heater case. It is the same plastic case that houses the blower motor. Usually they are replaced under the hood near the firewall or under the dash. I would look at the free online repair manuals provided by parts stores such as autozone.com . They should have the info you need for your particular model.

Heater core

The automotive repair manuels that you can buy at the major part stores such as Autozone, Advance or ORiley's do a good job of describing how the heater core is removed. Most heater cores come out from under the dash, while a rare few are removed from the firewall.

One wonders why you are changing the heater core. Are you getting steam on the inside of your windshield? Usually the best indication your heater core is leaking, or are you getting no heat? In which case it make be duct doors.
