I'd check at the fuel rail for fuel pressure first. If you don't have the appropriate psi and you can hear the fuel pump engage with key on engine off then odds are your filter is restricted and would need to be restricted. If you have pressure and hear pump initiating then it is something totally unrelated. Another messy way to determine if a fuel pump is working is to disconnect the fuel line where it attaches to the filter and with a drain pan and spill pads around the general area turn your key to on position and it would prime the system or in this case shoot a burst of fuel from the line (you would definately know if the pump worked or not) If you choose this method do it when the vehicle is cool, wear the appropriate protective gear and have a fire extinguisher nearby as a precautionary measure.
well if spark quits fuel usaly will to computer will do this to stop cadilac converter from filling with fuel!and causeing a fire saftey feature!!!!okay disconect battery wait a couple of minutes reconect! turn key on postion do not start or crank!off then on until you hear a GRRRRunt that is your fuel pump that is what you should hear turn your head to the right towards back seet and once you hear it that means pump is good then crank it then spark should quit if the coil packs a r bad then you have your problem if so test for spark also if you have eng light on cut the case hook up obd 2 scan find the fault and fix THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO CHEERS!
usually a surefire way to check the problem is first check the fuel pump relay.when you turn the key you should hear the relay click(they are located underneath the center console on the passengerside) if the relays are good, then check the fuel shutoff switch to see if it was triggered(this is located on the passenger side in the rear wheel housing,there is a little pull off panel and it's marked.press the reset button on top if it's tripped. If you still have a problem the othere things to check are the firing of the plugs if there is fire your fuel pump is bad,if not you eithere have a bad coil pack or a timing belt issue
