Question about 2005 Ford Escape

Problem accelerating after 50 mph

I'm taking my car in tomorrow and I want to be prepared for what might happened. My 2005 Escape started having a problem accelerating after 50 mph. It doesn't have enough power to go faster and there's a clicking noise. I have about 78K miles on it. The other symptom is the gas pedal is sometimes difficult to push down in the morning.

The torque converter was replaced last year at about 60K miles. Back then the problem I had was it had a very rough idle and would stall at stop lights. This current problem is completely different but I'm wondering if it could be something else with the transmission.

Any ideas?

If you don't have a obdII code reader, I would take to autozone and have them check for stored obdII codes they do it for free even if check eng light is not on, and look them up on the net just type in the codes on the search ex ford escape p10442(whatever codes show up) and you should get problems associated with codes. It could be a number of things from a bad seneliod to the tranny pump, you would need to get a diagnostics test done to know for sure from dealer AMCO, or other facility that does transmission work it runs around $100. ope this is useful.

From a stand still if you accelerate hard vehicle starts vibra

Well, kind of short on description, issues typical in this complaint are misfiring and U joints.

To emininate the engine, does the vibration happen on power braking, without the vehicle moving?

Check/change air filter.
Check/change spark plugs & plug wires. The wires can be check with an OHM meter, and the specs for the resistance in the manual. So can the ignition coils.
Change fuel filter...easy.
Last, if you have scanner...check MAF(mass air flow sensor) for operating specs...5g/sec at idle to 300gal/sec+ @ 3,000 RPM.

You may be losing the speedo cable. Others have reported the light flashing related to this. You may also want to check tranny oil condition (color should be clear red, and smell should not have a burnt smell to it)...

My ford escape 2005 start to vibrate shortly after I start driving and then goes away after the speed increases, this does not happen when slowing down.

You could have a worn out U joints, if your only getting the vibration during the acceleration period. Check the condition of the U joint to the drive shaft and tires. Good luck and hope this helps.
