There should be a belt tensioner pulley, you will more than likely need to loosen this alil in oreder to install the new belt.

What size serpentine belt would i need on 2004 ram 3500 with a 5.7 liter hemi with a/c delete

fan belts are measured in millimeters and ribs a usual inked number would be 6pk240 meaning a 6 rib belt width with 240mm in length So know how many ribs you have from the old belt makes this easy to find the length by taking kite string and following the belt diagram to get the length granted when coming to tensioner you have to subtract some from the string or have someone hold tension about half the travel this will get you close the Gates belt number is K071013 (7 rib 101.8 inches) look for K070880 about 85-91 inches

Need to replace my catalyc converter with a straight pipe how do i do that?

Shouldn't be any issues with removing it. First thing you need to do is crawl under the truck and measure the exact length of the cat. Then you can just remove the spring loaded bolts that hold it on, on both ends and replace it with some normal exhaust piping.

Is there a diagram for bypassing the ac compressor pulley and what would the belt length be?

Make you own. Just used a piece of rope. Once it has been measured add a inch or inche and half to the rope. This is to take up the slack for the belt tensionor. Then take your old belt and the new measurements to your local auto parts store and have fit a new belt to the rope measurements. GB...stewbison

Fan belt keeps shredding on 2002 pontiac montana

check by hand all moving parts, alt,ps pump, water pump, idlers, any thing the belt touches, all should move freely and smoothly, with no noise or "floppiness". check tensioners or idlers for proper action. check belt for proper groove number, check for proper length, check for proper belt arrangement. had a taurus, once, belt could be installed 2 ways and look proper but one way ate belts and another didnt. when belt label was available, you couldnt miss but with a missing label it seemed that the mechanic would install it wrong but it looked right untill you ran it. so double check belt route.

I have a 1999 Mercury Sable. The only problem I have had with the car is the serpentine belt. It started 3 months ago . . . the engine was overheating and the belt was shredding. I bought a belt...

is the a/c working ok??? shredding the belt may be cause by the a/c compressor problems. the "chunk" maybe not, but shredding tells me something does not spin when it should. I dont know why the mehanic put a new pump on that had a problem with the pulley, it should be smooth. anyhting that the belt runs should be smooth and east to turn, make sure that all of the grooves are clean, no remnants of the old belt.

What size serpentine belt do you need to bypass a compressor in a 1993 Cadillac Sedan DeVille? it has a 4.9 liter engine .. and is it possibal

You will need what is called an idle pully and be fitted instead of the compressor the same belt will fit. This is the correct way. An alternative way is to take the bely off the compressor pully and leave it on the other pully's pull it hand tignt holding the excess of the belt in your hand. Now check the belt won't rub on the engine or component's. If the belt has fully cleared all then Release the tensioner all the way and measure the length of belt needed to go around all pully's except the compressor. Take the measurement and the old belt to an autofactor's the old belt is important to have because the dimentions of the belt depth and width are also important. They will be able to check for a belt to suit your need's. Belt dosent need to be the exact length of your measurement 1 to 3 inches longer should be adjustable. cheers

The belt keeps coming loose on my 1985 amc eagle wagon. Apparently, this belt also charges the battery. So my battery went dead, and the car makes squeaking sounds...

You need to replace the alternator belt.they have a bolt which you loosen the belt. the belt probably got loose because this "tension" bolt was not properly tightened. the noise you hear is the belt slipping on the pullies. to replace it loosen the tension bolt until it is lose enough to remove the old belt. replace the belt with one of the same thickness and length. Be sure to tighten the bolt to where the belt will have about a 1/2 inch pressing down on it firmly with your thumb. you may have to remove some other components ( the fan for example) to replace the belt but thats questionable.
