The brake and turning lights are on a different switch than the tail lights. Check the fuse for the brake light circuit. Check to see if your front turning lights work. My guess is they won't work either.

After removing the 2 expose screws. You will need to carefully & firmly rotate the assembly away from the vehicle until it releases from the ball pin socket that holds it in back.
The unit contain 3 same exact bulb type, can be removed by turning them counter-clockwise 1/4 turn.

Why would the right rear running light(tail light) constantly burn out. 4 new bulbs in last 4 months, 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. No problems with left tail light. Automatic, Air, 4 wheel drive, 200300...

I have a 2002 JGC as well and its the driver side one with mine. I changed the bulb this last time and used bulb lube to cover all the metal. It worked for a mile then went out again but didnt burn out this time. I checked the contacts on the base and noticed there was some rust, scraped off with blade and used more bulb lube on those contacts too, working for now.

How do I change the brake light for a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Open you rear hatch. Remove the top and bottom screws that secures the light assembly . You will see where the bulb is located...twist the bulb socket and pull it of the assembly. Remove the bad bulb and insert the new bulb (be sure that the contacts on the light assembly and bulb socket are in good condition). Before reassembling, check to see that the problem is solved.

2002 jeep grand cherokee. Rear left brake light isnt working

The problem with your tail light is the housing is broken where the socket goes in. If you pull that socket out and look you will see the metal tap will be pushed down and the plastic around that will be broke. Easy fix is to replace the lens but you can get under the metal tap with a small flat tip screw driver and pull up on it very lightly and it should work for awhile.

Hope this helps
