2000 maxima won't stay started on a cold morning

My 2000 maxima has a problem starting, in the summer it starts and runs ok ( bad gas milage thou) but when it starts getting cold it it won't stay started in the morning. i will start it then it will idle down and quit, it won't stay started unless the engine is completly warmed up. i have changed the idle air control valve, mass air flow sensor and none of these have solved the problem please help.

Have the plastic intake manifold and gasket replaced. I have posted this fixed at least once before and have seen it numerous times.

This what I did after the dealer had it for 4 days and founfd nothing. They wanted to change the lower gasket even afetr I told them it was the upper one. Fortunately the only charge $125.00. The bad news was that it took me 10 hrs. But that was becasue the manual that I used didn't tell me about and / or how difficult some of the boltsd are that helfd the plenum in place and I rarely work on vehiclkes. If I had to do it again, I could do it in 5 hrs easy. . I laso stripped 3 bolts trying to tourgue them to spec. To fix this I ground down the brass bushings in the plenum so the bolts wojuld bite better.

In any case, the problem was solved

Thanks to Jackson as he saved me $800

My Nissan maxima 98 won't start in cold morning

check the temperature sender for your fuel and emissions (not same as sender for gauge is most cases) if fuel injected, if carburated check choke. also ensure plugs and wires are in good shape

Try to start run for a second if you press the gas it will stay on until you get off the gas

Sounds like a leaky injector, bad idle ,hard to start when warm, bad gas mileage. Or the temp sensor both of them that won't let it run rjght when its cold

Car won't start and stay running at first start-up. then after 10 to 15 minutes it starts and runs fine.

Hi. Sounds like the gas filter. If this happened in the summer it would be pressure lock in the gas tank.

2000 nissan maxima won't fire when trying to start. it turns over but won't fire. it started once and ran but won't start again

sounds like it might be flooded. Try and remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse block that is just in front of your left knee. While it is out crank the car and see if it wants to start and hold down the gas pedal all the way and then relase it and back and forth and once you get it to run have the fuse ready in your hand and in front of the spot to install it. and then keep the rpm's up with the gas pedal until the smoke clears out behind the car.

HOW MANY MILES ALOT IT REALLY SOUNDS LIKE YOUR O2 SENSOR OK LOCATED ON THE EXAUST PIPE CLOSE TO ENGINE UNDER THE HOOD THEY CONTROL YOUR FUEL MIXTUER FOR HOT AND COLD LIKE A CHOKE . IF ITS BAD THE ITS FLOODING IT OUT WHEN HOT AND YOU GET ROTTEN GAS MILAGE BECAUSE YOUR FUEL PRESSURES ARE FINE REGULATORS EITHER WORK OR THEY DON'T AND IT THEY DON'T YOUR TRUCK WON'T RUN O2 SENSORS GOING BAD DON'T ALWAYS GIVE A CODE OR A DASH LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE BAD GAS MILAGE AND BLACK SMOKE WHEN IT IS WARM ITS PRETTY OBVIOUS WHAT IT IS OK GOOD LUCK POHLCAT

sounds like a vacuum leak is causing the problem. consider this. idle bypass valve can be going bad or is bad.

if the engine is getting weak fuel pressure you should see a fuel light come on when this occurs. indicating improper pressure, witch the car running quickly tap the gas pedal.

now dose the problem happen in only cold weather so far? or also hot?

if not then your fuel pressure regulator is faulty.

i suspect the fuel pressure regulator myself but this is a procedure to help you determine it.
