SOURCE: key stuck in ignition but it will turn, and

you most likely have a bad key switch cylinder assembly. you can try to spray wd40 solvent into the switch before you have the switch replaced, but sometimes it's a switch replacement that repairs the problem. have you inspected your ignition key to look for damage to the key itself? try a spare key to make sure it's the key,and not the key switch. you can also try turning the key while turning the steering wheel at the same time to get the key to work.sometimes the switch locks when parked in a bind, such as on a hill,or against a curb and so on. try this 1st before you have the ignition switch replaced. AAA auto club,if you're a member covers part of the replacement costs for a replacement switch also. you may have coverage through a cell phone also.one more thing to try, if you have a tilt steering column, try to reposition the steering wheel to see if you can get the key to turn. remember never force it enough to break your key off into the switch! thank you for choosing fixya.com!

SOURCE: when I try to start

If any of the gauges are blinking and going haywire and the security light flashing then the instument cluster is faulty. But if it is just the security light flashing then its in the switch. If you only had the switch replaced then you need a new ignition lock cylinder because its worn out.

SOURCE: my 1999 buick turns over but won't start I had

It could be that your fuel pump is not getting enough fuel to the engine to start it. Is your starter turning over or trying to start the engine.

SOURCE: the car won't start; lights,

Check the starter and the starter relay or fuse. A client of mines car was doing the same thing, it ended up being two issues, the starter not working anymore, and a relay that was bad. If I am not mistaken everything should be labeled in the fuse box under the hood and will tell you where the fuse/ relay is for your vehicle

SOURCE: security light blinks car won't start

The process for the passlock relearn is correct. If by chance the relearn does not work, you may have a fail component in the system. Go to this link for options to fix this yourself.

Sounds as though the battery is no good,
unless you know otherwise & also had it tested
Charging a battery doesn't address it's internal
condition
You have battery cables that corrode inside & can be
voltage drop tested
You have the starter & solenoid, ignition sw & such, to name
a few, lots of possible causes & things to check

I have 05 kia rio. jump started dead battery but the cables were crossed and killed it instead. purchased new battery. car stuck in park. worked when screwdriver in override button but still won'

There is a large maxi-fuse between the battery and alternator. Its at least 100 amp or more. It may be in the cable at the battery, or in one of the fuse boxes.
You may also have damaged the key switch or the brake circuit.
You may have to get a book to get the wiring diagrams to check everything involved.

many things will cause no start problems could have faulty ignition switch.use test light see if power going to starter if not check ignition fuse to starter.if power going to starter, more likely starter solenoid or starter faulty.if ignition fuse okay and starter and solenoid okay still no start problem could be in the ignition switch or inhibitor switch faulty.code scan for faulty theft security system which will also cause no start conditions.

2009 corolla hooked up jumper cable backwards, car won't start

TAKE OF BOTH CABLES AND GROUND THEM TOGETHER FOR 30 OR SO MINUTES, THIS WILL RESET THE CARS MEMORY, TEST VOLTAGE ON BATTERY WITH VOLT METER & IF IT IS BELOW 12.31V THEN CHARGE THE BATTERY , ONCE BATTERY CHARGED HOOK UP BATTERY LEADS (TO RIGHT TERMINALS) & ATTEMPT TO START CAR, IF ALL YOU GET IS A CLICK THEN LOCATE THE STARTER MOTOR & GIVE IT A FIRM WHACK WITH A HAMMER (SERIOUSLY) THIS WILL FREE UP THE STARTER & WILL ALLOW THE CAR TO CRANK

[email protected] all the fuses and relays in the 2 boxes under the hood and another one of fuses and relays panel inside the car, front of the driver seat, behind the pull out box next to the hood release handle..Under the hood check inside the one with 8" black square box;Check # 1 slot fuse, it is 60 amps for (+B ), check # 8 slot fuse for Engine control 20 amps, check # 15 slot Fuel pump 15 amps..And check another skinny black box lie next to that box, it has relay F, that is Engine control, check that also...And inside the car fuses panel; Check # 1 slot fuse 10 amps that for Ignition coil, # 8 slot Engine control 7.5 amps, # 12 slot Engine control 7.5 amps..After that recheck the battery post, that maybe needed re-tight..Don't force to tight too much, that will crack and broke the post and the plastic battery body...And check all the ignition wires and spark plugs that are tight or needed to replace..And check all the vacuum lines that are loose and leaks suctions or sometimes they are crack open by long ages..By the way check and recheck all those other fuses and relay for make sure they are good...Believe me that not hard to figure out those problems..You did everything rights so far..That one 100 amps fuse at the + battery post cable was connect to alternator for recharging your battery and give power to other items when car was running..Below that post, the middle cable was connect to the starter motor and the bottom cable was connect to that 8" black fuses and relays box under the hood...

if the jumper leads were crossed it means that there would be 24 volts going into the system instead of 12 volts, you are very lucky that the car still starts as this action usually causes major damage to the electronic parts of the vehicle so I don' think that they were crossed but it has caused some sort of problem but I'm not sure where,it maybe best to take the vehicle to an auto electrician & have the problem fixed.....hope this helps.....cheers.

Hello. My 1997 Chevy Tahoe refuses to start. The problems began with a bad fuel pump. I changed. It worked. The fuel pump died again. I changed it again and it has been working. I parked it for two weeks....

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires, don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start

Tell us what you checked & exactly how that was done.
