96 ford explorer door will not lock with switch

Hello,
I have a 1996 ford exlorer Eddie Bauer.  The door will UNLOCK with the remote, keypad, drivers & passengers side door lock/unlock switch and the hatch lock/unlock switch.  However, the door will not LOCK with the remote, drivers & passengers side door lock/unlock switch, it WILL lock with the hatch lock/unlock switch.  Also pressing the lock on the remote will activate the horn to beeb, indicating the signal has been reveiced, but the door will not lock.  Your suggestions would be greately appreciated.
Thank You,Jay

door lock keeps locking and unlocking

  • Anonymous Mar 15, 2014

3 times again last night about 30 min apart. Stopped by unlocking with remote and then relocking with remote. Finally unlocked with remote and manually locked both front doors, leaving passenger doors unlocked. . Didn't hear again. Mechanic has recharged low battery and replaced horn switch. Neighbors hate me.

I do have a book on the 1996 but no on me but I have had a problem with it the same, Get in and sit in the drivers set and push lock from the in side and then do the same but this time unlock it and then get out and try to use the remote. if no then try to do the same thing but in the passenger side. lock and then unlock. no then call the ford dealer shop and they have a alarm department that will help you and I know because I had then do a job on one of my other cars and I was charged $20.00 he did it on a side job. Driver side unlock button will not unlock any doors.

Try taking the switch out and spraying it with some electrical cleaner. It's probably just dirty. If not, replace the switch.

02explorer eddie bauer, front passenger window will go down only from master control on drivers side, and only go up from passenger switch and not on master control. all other windows are fine.

check and see if the window lock feature is flipped on. its located on driver door panel. this will preven the windows from working except from driver control.
