2OO7 Kia Sorento check engine light on, wont start

I was checking air filter for replacement, and also manually worked the throttle plate while vehicle was running. It stalled and set check engine lite and now wont start. Can I reset adaptive memory without scan tool?

Have a 2001 cavalier.... Starts fine now idles but when put into gear it stalls?

Possible torque converter clutch issue. Is the check engine light on? If so, have it scanned for transmission codes. If the torque converter clutch is locked up when it isn't supposed to be, the vehicle will stall. Another thing to check is for coking on the throttle plate. Remove the hose that goes from the air filter box to the throttle assembly and look inside the throttle bore to see if it is dirty/black. If so, use carb cleaner and a toothbrush to clean while holding throttle plate open and remove as much carbon deposits as possible. This can affect minimum idle airflow and also cause a stall

2001 altima stalls at intersection or when AC is running and car is hot

No to the high octane gas. Regular gas is fine. Higher octane gas is more resistant to ignition and is better suited for high compression engines to prevent preignition and detonation. Check or replace your idle air control valve since the car stall at idle when the throttle blade is closed. If the IAC is not working it won't allow for air to bypass the throttle plate. Also have your throttle body cleaned.

2002 ford taurus stall when coming to a stop but start up quickly i have no check engine light that comes on what can it be

check the air filter if its plugged it could cause the stall, check the throttle plate for dirt as this will cause a stall.the throttle plate is located in the intake were the air snorkel fastens to the intake manifold.if you look inside the intake you will see a gold coloured plate this is the throttle plate.if you get a can of intake/throttle cleaner and a tooth brush you can spray the cleaner and gentle scrubbing the plate front and back while holding the throttle open and make sure you clean the area around where the sides of the plate sit when the throttle is closed.this is a common problem on all vehicles.

I started to clean my throttle body earlier and was under the impression you were supposed to remove the mass air-flow sensor first so it doesn't get ruined. I removed the air intake parts to get at...

You are at the right area in order to acess the throttle body you need to remove the air filter housing and that is were your mass air flow is at it is a good practice to clean the mass air flow when you replace the air filter you dont need to have the vehicle running to clean the throttle body plus it wont even run with the air duct removed anyway just spray thhe throttle body opening the plate manually go ahead and spray clean the mass air flow remeber do this with key out engine off.when you are done reassemble now if the check engine lcomes on re inspect and make sure you assembled correctly you will set of the check engine light give it 2 cold start up and it will clear itself.by the way you dont need to disconnect the battery

I have a 1996 BMW 328i, when the engine idles/ slows to almost idle it wants to stall. Everything else on the vehicle is sound, I was wondering if the o2 sensor could be the problem?

No 02 sensors don't do that. Check your air filter. And pull the plenum off the throttle body and check/ clean behind the throttle plate. Low air flow is the most common problem, when there isn't a check engine light on. One other suggestion is to replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been done in awhile.

Engine on my 1999 dodge caravan grand stalls out 2 to 4 times a day whats causing this

heres a few possibilitys. clean plate in throttle body. they get carbon around it and it will not run right. make sure air filter is clean, check fuel filter if need be. vacuum hoses for leaks. but clean throttle plate first. this may solve problem.

Engine Dies in Idel

being a certified mechanic has its advantages. there are multiple causes for that problem: lack of air or lack of fuel.
make sure the air filter is mostly clean.
check throttle plate (where air filter tube goes into motor), most likely black with soot and carbon. clean with tooth brush and gas, wipe off with clean rag. repeat ultil CLEAN.
low air flow past plate when closed (idle) will cause stall condition.
dirty throttle body is a common problem with lots of cars. causes engine stall.

dirty fuel filter will also cause this problem.. low fuel pressure at idle.

I also believe that your car is equipped with an idle air control valve. (regulates a bypassed air flow to motor at idle) this valve may be stopped up or non-functional. have local shop take a look, but there are ways to check valve if you consider yourself mechanically inclined

Engine Stalls When stopped and in Drive

Question, did you replace the throttle body, or clean the throttle plate, it will carbon up and block air needed for the idling speed to be correct. Also check for vacuum leaks, as the older vehicles didn't have good vacuum hoses. Good luck
