Question about 1994 Honda Accord

Car doesn't warm up

94 Honda Accord with new Honda radiator and thermostat. On highway the car doesn't get up to normal temp ranges, kick out adequate heat (Wisconsin) or come out of fast idle. In town it eventually gets there. Mechanic thinks coolant temp sensor, sounds like thermostat. Does the sensor control the thermostat? I'm listening.

just bought a 94 honda accord sedan lx one week ago and it's not kicking out heat. Auto Zone changed the radiator cap. The heat worked for a minute then returned to what it was doing before. Could this be something serious?

It does sound like the thermostat. The sensor does not control the thermostat in any way, it only reads the temperature of the coolant. Your symptoms are classic of a thermostat that is stuck open or partially open. Take it back and tell them what is going on and have them show you that the thermostat is fine.

94 accord ex still running hot after new water pump, hoses, termostat

Is it actually overheating or is your gauge just saying it is, did you measure the water temp to see if you have a bad temp sensor?
Have you started it from cold with the radiator cap off and let it warm up till water starts circulating so you can see that it actually is? New thermostat in backwards could cause it also.

95 subaru warms up fine but when you hit the highway temp goes back to cold until you slow down again --radiator is full

Most likely your thermostat is stuck open. When you are at highway speed the air flowing over the radiator is over-cooling the coolant. Normally when it's cold outside the thermostat will close, reducing flow through the radiator. It's an easy fix, and not too expensive.

1997 Honda Accord cooling problem.

Most Hondas and modern car fans can and do run at will. 215 on a scan tool is just reading the sensor and variation is ok. A temp gun is more accurate. Ill bet your gage is still normal. I have a honda and the fan runs at times when I get out. Normal

I have a 96 honda accord and the fan runs after I turn off the car for 15 minutes. I just replaced the thermostat

That is normal but on the "long side" of normal. If the engine temp is good while driving, the temp sensor may be slightly out of range, but if its either very hot outside or the engine is running hotter than normal that can influence it as well. That part, you have to consider as I can't see what is going on there.

94 honda accord shifts hard while driving and the check engine light it on after putting back in the radiator. the thermostat is out and my idle is move from 1000 to 2000 n but my mph is just be 5 n the it...

The car won't run properly if the thermostat is out. The engine is computer controlled based on many factors, including engine temperature, which is way out of range without a thermostat. 1st thing to do is replace the thermostat and see what happens with the engine light, it may go off now. Why is the t-stat out? Were you having cooling problems? Replace the t-stat, and if you need further help, I'll try to give you the info you need.

94 honda accord

biggest problem with the hondas is they have a bad cooling system, they tend to corrode the fins of the water pump due to the reaction between the full alloy block and the coolant. you should start there then the fan switch and radiator and thermostat.
