Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Alero
Turn the key and all the gages and everything on the dash power up, the car just won't start. I think it may have something to do with the security system but i do not have the owners manual to check.
I had this problem with my 2000 alero turned out to be the fuel pump relay located in the fuse box under the hood. the air conditioner uses the same type relay swap them out and see if it starts, it doesn't cost anything.

The security light normally indicates that there is a failure in the antitheft system. If this is a new occurence, id imagine a failure will soon follow. If that light has been on since you've owned the car, somebody may have bypassed the system in a cheap way that leaves that light on. Here is a link about the system and how it works. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
