Open front Trunk to access speedometer, remove cardboard cover and unplug electrical connections to speedometer one at a time and mark them so you can hook them back up in the same places, then un-screw the speedometer cable and remove the two nuts that hold speedometer to dashboard.

My 2001 VW Beetle GLS is showing kilometers. How

Normally you need to replace the speedometer. Is it driven by a cable or is it electric/digital? There are suppliers that provide speedometers with miles and kilometers both available as a option, such as one bought in Germany to American specs purchased in Germany for reshipment to US, commonly available in instances where a tourist want a car to pick up in Germany, drive for awhile, the ship back to US.

I replaced the speedometer cable in my 1969 volkswagen bug and the speedometer still doesn't work what else can it be

check the drive gear on the output shaft of the gear box for stripped gears . have you put the inner cable back in the right way as one end will not fit in the speedo head.

I need torque settings for lug nuts on a 1969 volkswagon beetle

As a general rule of thumb for lug nuts, after you get it snug with the wrench, give the wrench an extra hunch that will move the wrench a 1/4 of the way around the wheel. The exact specification for this car is 80 ft-lbs.

I have a 1969 volkswagon beetle and the hood is stuck. how do i get it opened

Sorry, but without seeing the hood and getting hands on it's impossible to remotely determine where the fault lies.

Either visit a garage or contact your local classic VW owners' club. The latter will be filled with helpful enthusiasts who'll usually be only too eager to provide free assistance.

I have 2001 vw beetle and my transmission surgers... what can i do for it

On some volkswagen Transmissions you can reset the computers shift plan by doing the following. Starting with car off in park, turn ignition to ON (but do not start) then depress the gas pedal for at least 3 seconds, then shut the car off, start and drive. This resets the computer's shifting plan for some VW's and you can expect some hard shifts after this reset, but it may help with funny shifting. The afore stated speed sensor is also a possible culprit.

Speedometer on 99 vw beetle not working

He can if it's nothing more than a broken cable, otherwise it gets real difficult. Even getting to the ends of the cable behind the dash could be a frustrating experience.
