Question about 1986 Pontiac Fiero

1 Answer

Will not idle when cold and hesitates when warm.

When i start the car it will run for about 2 seconds and then die i have to keep hitting the gas for about 5 min then it will finally idle on its own. But when it does finally idle it hesitates  when you hit the gas to go and it gets really annoying because it jerks around, its a manual so it does it every time you shift.

Try to get it running a bit to warm up the exhaust. Take a point and shoot thermometer and take the temp of the cat. If temps exceed 400 degrees I would start to suspect a plugged cat.
