Try holding down the throttle all the way when starting (thinking it might be flooded from overpumping the accelerator)

remember the computer automatic puts a shot of fuel in the car when you try to start (no need to pump)

Where is the fuel shutoff switch on a 1995 Mitsubishi Diamante?

There is no fuel cut switch on the diamant? the fuel pump relay is controlled by the ECM ground circuit to the fuel pump relay or the efi relays. If you need to turn the pump of find the fuel pump fuse and pull it out.

2001 mitsubishi diamante not turning over

Try turning the key on and listen for the fuel pump to kick on it'll be a hum coming from the fuel tank area. If you don't hear anything then its a bad fuel pump. If you do try turning the off and on several times leaving it in the position till the humming stops then turn it off and repeat a few times then crank it if it starts then the fuel pump is weak or a clogged fuel filter which isn't allowing enough fuel to pass thru to open the injectors.

First started but had to hold the throttle down to keep it on then wont start

If it cranks but won't start, you will need to find out if it has no spark to the plugs or no fuel to the injectors.
In this case it could be a fuel pump or pump relay.

Mitsubishi Diamante 2001, Car Will Not Start, Attempts to Crank, But no Fire. Blowing Engine Control Fuses repeatedly.

For the sake of completeness, here's the full no-start Troubleshooting Guide for the 2001 6 cylinder 3.5L MFI Mitsu Diamante, but the problem with your car is line item #6 - the ECC (Engine Control Computer) is shorted/dead. Without an ECC, the Diamante will (a) get no spark, since the ignition timing comes from the computer, and (b) get no fuel, since the fuel injectors are operated by the computer as well. The engine will turn over, since running the starter motor is a non-computer controlled matter of a correctly functioning ignition switch, a charged battery, and good wiring to a functional starter motor/solenoid, but will never start.
The clue pointing directly to the ECC failure is the blowing ECC fuses. These fuses are blowing to tell you that the ECC is shorted dead.
Since the ECC is expensive, exhaustively check out all other possible sources of the problems, but with so few problems causing loww of both spark and fuel, combined with the blown ECC fuses pointing directly to the ECC, it seems that the ECC is the only culprit.
Here's a used 2001 Mitsu Diamante ECC at Ebay for $175.

The fuel pump strainer is a sock-like strainer in the fuel tank on the input side of the fuel pump designed to protect the fuel pump by straining out any debris in the tank (similar to the way that the fuel filter protects the engine/fuel injectors/fuel pressure regulator).

Where is the fuel pump relay for 95 mitsubishi magna/Diamante?

The Mitsubishi uses a MFI relay that is located behind the glove box. They also hace a fuel pump check terminal there are 2 ways to use this terminal with key on engine off. Uses the tab to check to see if power is there. The other way to turn on the fuel pump with key off engine off,by applying power to the tab. The tab is located near the brake booster it is green in color.11_2_2011_3_14_28_am.gif11_2_2011_3_14_51_am.gif11_2_2011_3_16_09_am.gif

My 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante will not start. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and the plugs. The timing belt is not broken, plugs have spark, it just seems like it is not getting any fuel at all....

some of these vehicles have a fuel frequency cut off switch on top of the fuel tank and it could be this that is the problem ,first check the fuel sender unit where the pump is located and the two thicker wires are the pump feed and the earth so check here first for a current ,then go from their ,if power into sender unit then tis a pump or a coinnection ,in no power check teh fuses and change the relay or swop it over with something else first
