Question about 2004 Jaguar S Type

Key will not completely turn off the car or come out

My 2004 Jaguar S-type's key is stuck in the ignition, and will not completely turn the vehicle off. I tried restarting and truing off the engine, put the car into and out of gear, removing the key by force (ha), and compressing the break while turning the key. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!

I have the same prob with my 2005 jag, key stuck in ingnition and car will not turn off

Turning the key off......the car shuts down but it will not come off the accessory position to fully off. Switching the gear selector to drive then park then drive then park....."sometimes" will correct the problem. Usually "sometimes" parking the car in a spot by going in reverse will sometimes work better? It's progressivly getting worse meaning 15-20 minutes playing with the gear selector over and over and over will eventually allow the key to turn back past the accessory position to wich you can remove your key......?

Sounds like it is some type of 'limp home' mode.
It could be anything. It might be as simple as a bad Fuel Pump Relay. When you turn the Key to the ON position (not Start) can you hear a little buzz for about 1 second? That would be your fuel pump running. You need to see if the engine is getting gas and spark.

Location of transponder module x type jaguar

i presume you mean the key transponder module for the security system, the system comprises of a key module/antennae module whitch is around the ignition barrel, this communicates with the instrument pack which is the brains of the p.a.t.s. security system, information is then sent around to the cars other modules, ie engine control module via the can network to say ok to start or this is not my key so dont allow to start. what is the nature of your problem? is the pats light flashing?

What can I do if my key won't turn in the ignition switch of my 2004 jaguar s type?

if its the correct key for your car and its not working try a spare if you have one. check the condition of the teeth on the key it maybe worn out or bent. it could also be the key tumbler that is worn and needs replacing. does your key chain weigh a lot that is more than the weight of say just 4 keys if so this may have caused the tumblers to were out.

Why can I nor insert the key into a jaguar s type (2004)

What? are you still stuck over there? The reason is because you don't insert your key properly, plus the steering unlocks and seats move because of accessories mode, if you want to move out of park, it must be ignition on.

Can a bad fuse keep the ignition key from coming out of the 2004 Jaquar X Type?

Bad ignition switch, the ignition is not allowing you to turn the key fully and releasing your key, you will need a new key cylinder.

Is the key stuck because you have an automatic transmission and you are unable to shift it into P (park)?

My two remote key openers for my 2004 X Type Jag are not working. Can I replace batteries and if so what kind and where do I buy?

It may not be the battery, it may be the ignition switch. There is a switch within the key barrel if this switch gets dirty the remote lock, I have a 2004 model. Squirt some WD40 into the key barrel and turn the key a few time to shift the dirt, then try the remote. The switch is design not to lock the doors accidently, so the switch has to closed, when you take the key out of the barrel.

Have both keys to hand. Rapidily flick the ignition to position 1 four times until you hear a chime then press the unlock key on both remotes. A chime should be heard each both times when you press the buttons
