Torque is a measurement tool that shows a vehicle's ability
to tow and accelerate. The 2000 Sportage generates 135 ft-lb of torque
when measured at 4,000 rpm. It tows up to 2,000 lb.
Power
The 2000 Sportage features a 2.0-liter I4 engine that
produces 130 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. Five-speed manual overdrive
transmissions are standard for all models, but the four-door models
offer the option of getting a four-speed automatic overdrive
transmission instead. The compression ratio is 9.1 to one and the engine
displacement is 1,991 cc. The bore and stroke are 3.26 and 3.62 inches.
Fuel
All manual versions get 20 miles per gallon in the city and
23 mpg on the highway. The automatic four-wheel drive models get 19 mpg
in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The automatic two-wheel drive
models get 18 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. The two-door
model has a 14-gallon fuel tank and the other models have a 15.8-gallon
fuel tank.
Measurements
The two-door Sportage is 156.4 inches long with a wheelbase
of 92.9 inches. The four-door versions are 170.3 inches and the
wheelbase is 104.3 inches. All versions are 68.1 inches wide and 65
inches tall. The front and rear tracks are both 56.7 inches. All
versions sit 7.9 inches off the ground. The two-wheel drive, four-door
versions weigh 3,186 lb if manual and 3,230 lb if automatic. The
two-door, two-wheel drive model is 3,108 lb. The two door, four-wheel
drive model is 3,230 lb. The four-door, four-wheel drive models are
3,352 lb if manual and 3,396 lb if automatic.
This is a long/hard one to answer as a few things can cause this. First, check the vacuum lines running from the engine down to the front axles for cracks, and make sure you have vacuum to the axle hub. Second, remove and inspect the front wheel bearings, they should be set to proper preload and there should be no signs of water in the hub. And last if there is water in the hub, that most likely means there is rust on the front axle, and the pitting caused by the rust will not allow vacuum to build up and ingage the four wheel drive. the later requires a new front hub kit $$$.
See vacume pipes at the front wheels. sound like it is broken or pulled out by snow. there is 2 pipes one for brakes on calliper and one for vacume suction to engage or dis engage 4 wheel drive. Enjoy. Willem SA
On small shift behinde gear lever there is 3 settings. H4 = 4 wheel drive high range, L4 = 4 wheel drive low range, h2 = 2 wheel drive high range. as soon as jou engage to 4 wheel drive a green light on the dash board will appear to indicate that the car is in 4 wheel drive. if not check fuse - check air pipes at front wheels. Enjoy Willem Sa
I got ripped off by a dealer with a similar problem that came back two weeks later. $2.99 of vacuum hose later I fixed it myself. Check all the vacuum lines for rotted hoses before you fork out 3K and they are easy to do
4 wheel drive does not engage front end.does this work off of vacumn?
