My 98 beetle is blowing the hazard switch - 1998 Volkswagen Beetle

Short circuit most likely in rear light wiring

This could be a faulty flasher relay. On the 2000 Beetle the relay is part of the Hazard signal switch. It will need replacing so you will need to remove the four star headed screws holding the panel the hazard switch is in. (2 underneath and 2 on the front). Two of the screws are hidden under little plastic covers. You then can remove the panel and replace the whole hazard switch unit.

THE HAZARD SWITCH CONTAINS THE FLASHER UNIT THAT IS THE MOST COMMON FAILURE

what switches did you replace. sounds like you blend door motor is stuck

see the diagram use the vom for to eliminate the short circuit, take the fuse and eliminate the short. use the common sense. God bless you.

without putting my machine on it and extracting the gas to see how much gas their is by weight then i couldnt even think of a reason for this sorry

Replacement The turn and hazard flashers are integrated into one flasher on these models. The flasher is located in the hazard warning switch and the hazard warning switch is located on the trim plate. Replace the flasher by unplugging the old one, removing it from the panel, and plugging in the new one.

1. Remove the bezel from the ignition switch.
   

Remove the bezel from the ignition switch

Carefully remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate.


To remove the trim plate, use a suitable prytool to carefully apply pressure at the retaining clip points . . .


. . . then gently pull the accessory trim plate away

Detach the electrical connector from the hazard warning switch.


Unplug the electrical connector from the hazard warning switch . . .

Unfasten the screw securing the hazard warning switch and remove the switch.


. . . then unfasten the screw securing the hazard warning switch and remove the switch from the vehicle


Installation is the reverse of removal.

you have two options one your relay is bad that is also you hazard switch replace that first the cheaper of the two fixes other one is the turn signal stalk itself is bad. that you might want to take to a shop

you need to rplace hazard light switch as this sounds like a relay problem

replace the hazard switch it controls the turnsignals
