94 Aerostar won't start. No fire

The distributor shaft was worn and the magnetic pickup went out. I changed the distributor and timed the van and it ran for a few weeks,
but never idled right when it was cold. Now it won't start. I changed the
distributor again and the coil and had the ignition module checked. I have voltage on the positive side of the coil, but cranking the van over
I have no fire at the coil. Once in a while I will get one small spark when
the motor first turns over, but never more than just one small spark at
the start.

Van won 't start possible bad distributor

If the shaft in the distributor does not turn, either the shaft or gear is broken, or the cam is not turning in the engine. That could be from a broken timing belt.

Changing pickup coil

You have to remove the distributor from the engine then remove the distributor shaft from the distibutor housing, then you can remove & replace the pickup coil. Make sure you marke the exact location of the distributor body in relation to the intake manifold and note exactly where the rotor is pointing in relation to the distributor cap. I always set the timing marks on the front pulley at zero and make sure that the rotor is pointing at the #1 plug wire terminal on the cap before removing any distributor as it makes getting it in time easier if you lose your marks. You should reset the ignition timing when you have it all back together again as you'll most likely be off a few degrees. Some of these distributors had problems with the magnets in the distibutor shaft that would mimic a failing pickup coil and they were prone to drive gear wear. If you suspect any of those problems it's often easier to replace the entire distibutor with a reman unit.

94 Chevy 1500 truck, seems to be getting fuel, pump sounds like working when checked. Replaced Mapping sensor, had distributor check, but truck continues to run fine for awhile, then just die for no reason...

These sometimes have problems with the magnet on the distributor shaft loosing magnetism. This causes the pickup coil not to be able to produce a strong enough signal for the ignition module and the engine dies because of no spark.

Have a 91 dodge ram 3500 van and have no spark. tried new coil cap and rotor plug wires can anyone help?

Sounds like a bad distributor. Make sure the distributor has not sheared the shaft. Remove the cap and rotor, and make sure there is some tension on the shaft in rotation.

If it does, using a voltmeter, check that power is reach the coil.

Also ensure you have the correct firing order on the cap and the cap is installed properly and sealed.

How do i remove the distributor on a ford 1991 aerostar i need to replace my ignition pickup

Take the doghouse out of the cab of the van (the cloth piece behind where you put the car in Drive, Park, Nuetral, etc). There you should see all your plug wires, your distributor cap, under that your rotor.. and under that your distributor.
Pretty self explanatory on how to get it off, its just a tight squeeze. Good luck
