Check to make sure the plug on the steering column is plugged in all the way.

do this by removing the ubder dash panel tword the bottom of the steering column, you will see a long plug on the column with alot of wires oging in, simply push on it to make sure it is in all the way.

If it is in all the way, pull it out and make sure it is clean.

If both fail, you may have an electrical problem.

The radio doesn't from the buttons on the steering wheel ? The clock spring inside the steering column could have an open in the wiring ! The clock spring allows you to turn the wheel from full left to full right while keeping the horn an radio control buttons connected electrically with wires going down the steering column . Do you have a Air bag light lit on the dash ? How cars clock spring works

2001 T&C no sound from the radio, is there more fuses I,m not seeing under the hood? I have tried two other radios from the junk yard, same thing (no sound)

Have you checked the fuses in the cab? Newer vehicles have 2 fuse/relay panels. One inside and one under the hood. There is a mixture of both large and mini fuses in this inside panel. It's just under the dash to left of steering column. The only saving grace is there is more room than in most vehicles. A Chilton/Haynes repair manual will give you, with pictures, the exact location. It will give you the diagram of what fuse does what as well. And troubleshooting section may lead you in other direction to fix your problem.

Steering wheel controls not working

If the radio works from the dash then unlikely to be a fuse. need to remove the steering shroud just behind the steering wheel and check for any loose connections is where I would start.

No controls work on my steering wheel of my 2002 mini cooper. the horn, cruise control, radio control, etc.. is all out and not working. i can understand if 1 or 2 were out but it seems unusual for all not...

Just answered your other similar problem. I'm not familiar with the mini but I've notice on other cars that because the steering wheel is a moving part then to connect devices they have to use a type of spring loaded strip of metal which is held in contact with the wheel but still lets it turn. You need to find out how the steering wheel mounted devices are connected to the steering column.

Body control module

you may have a wire not grounded properly or a short that is confusing the cpu-I would suspect the steering column area-do you have the switching to brights problem while turning-also might try changing both bulbs as something goofy may be happening inside of those right side lights-i e a fillement laying across other fillement-I would start with replacing bulbs as this may be messing with the cpu-cheers Denny

Dash and radio lights don't work at night. They are on during the day. 2003 Chev Impala. Have checked all the fuses.

The same thing happens on my 2003 Impala. I found that my dimmer switch has an intermittent failure where sometimes the dash lights go out even with the headlights on.
If I wiggle the dimmer just right, the dash, radio, steering wheel, door locks, and every other light comes on (when the headlights are on). My fix was to mount my Garmin on the steering column in front of the speedometer so when the lights go out I know how fast I'm going. A replacement dimmer (or bypassing the current one and adding a resistor) should take care of it.

Radio, clock, interior light and central locking not working

This is as a result of a short occurring most likely in the radio harness.

It happened me while working on a customers car. In my case checked all fuses and they all appeared fine, both those under the hood/bonnet and those underneath the steering wheel.

After studying the workshop electrical schemmatics for the car it appears that the clock, interior lights, central locking receiver and radio permanent live/battery are all on the one line.

In effect damage had occurred after the internal fuse panel, therefore all fuses were ok and supplying power across them, but at some point after there was a break in the wire.

However you DO NOT need to remove dash and or replace harnesses to rectify.

Look at the fuse panel underneath the steering wheel. Slot 18 (bottom RHS) and you will see in raised plastic 'BACK UP'. Inserting a 10A fuse here will restore the interior lights, radio, clock and your central locking.

There is a small plastic piece in the way which prevents a fuse going in. Simply use a thin pair of pliers, scissors or a screwdriver (or similar tool) to break this and all pieces of it away until you are able to insert the 10A mini blade fuse.

Problem Sorted!

(I believe the fact this back up exists is because the designers of electrical system at mitsibushi realised it had shortcomings or this would be a potential problem - and included the back up for such an occurence)

There is a fuse box located on the passenger side-but no diagram.not sure what these fuses are for. cadillac deville 1989

The turn signal flasher is located under the dash to the right of the steering column on most models. The hazard flasher is under the dash, to the left of the steering column. On 1980 and later models, both the turn signal flasher and the hazard flasher are located at the lower left hand and the upper right hand corners of the fuse block respectively. There is an inline fuse for the underhood/spotlamp circuit. The fuse box is marked to indicate fuse size and the circuit(s) protected.
