Rev up motor will not pass 3000 rpm put in drive very slugish!

I have a ford sport trac 2001 with a 4.0L motor. I changed the spark plugs and cable it was not easy I say! and after I had finished the truck will not idle correct it idles at 500 RPM and when I hit the gas it will not pass the 3000RPM I test drove it and tried to climb a hill and forget it. It starts up at the touch of the key when cold idles high then goes to normal and then goes belowe normal RPM PS: when I turn the stering the truck wheel tends to shake. I checked all my wiring cable from left to right and double checked my hoses in case one may have come out. I checked my ignition to spark plugs to make sure they are where they should be and I have tride everything even cleaned the maff scensor and still the truck is the same what could it be? I have been at it all day since this morning. It never had any of the problems I described before.
any inpute would be thanked.

Your plug wires are crossed. your close but you have 2 wires in the wrong place.the coil has numbers on it. 123456 i think from the belt going back the pass side first 123 and driver side 456 or vise versa you will know if the versa part is wrong. good luck.

Why won't my 2003 Ford explorer sport Trac 4.0 L since v 6 engine rev over 3000 rpm's in neutral.

There are numerous possibilities but in the first instance you need to take the vehicle in to Ford service to have it scanned for fault codes and the problems diagnosed from there.

2000 pontiac grand am 3.4 motor auto trans 4 door.Car starts and drives okay motor seems to stumble slightly between 3000-4000 rpms. with car stopped in park try to rev motor will only go between 3200-4000...

Hi Tom your vehicle is equipped with a Rev limiter it will not allow you to rev the engine above 4000 with the trans in park; as for the first problem you may have one of two things, one of the spark plugs or spark plug wires is bad or you have a flat spot on the throttle positioning sensor in which case have be replaced. Good luck?
