Question about 1991 Buick Riviera
My name is De'wayne. I have a serious problem with my 1991 Buick Riviera. I know I need to change the vibration dampener. But, I have no idea as to where I should start. I feel it's the vibration dampener because it makes a loose, rattling noise everytime I go to start the engine. Eventhough, there's this crazy noise as the engine trys to start. The engine starts, and runs smoothly. And, the car picks up good speed. And, does so smoothly as I drive away. But, as long as the car is sitting idle the ratling noise is persistent. And, only when I get into the gas the noice stops. But, as soon as I get off the gas the noise instantly comes back. This is the only noticable problem. I am at my wits end with trying to figure out how I can fix this problem on my own. I would definitely appreciate any and all advice from whomever can give me the best solution as to how to resolve this problem. Thank you
Before your suspects the engine dampener, pls try to see the propeller shaft. maybe it knocks on your under chassis frame. If ever propeller shaft is not the cause that's the time that you have to check the dampener.
You can remove the dampener when you're under your car. Damperners placed in-between the Flywheel and Propeller Shaft flanged. A 3 or 4 bolts must be removed.
check the dampener for wears, if the rubber dampeners shows no wears, It was only misaligned.
hope this could help.
