Question about 2007 Pontiac Aztek

1 Answer

Possible shock? I have a 2001 Pontiac Aztek, and when I am driving down a bumpy road, or just any road and I hit a bump, I have this rattling noise coming from my rear passenger side. It sounds almost as if the car door isn't shut all the way, but they are. Could is possibly be a shock?

Yes! if you have struts the shock mounts cound be shot,Also check to see your exhaust isn't missing any hangers, that makes noise too, when the pipe clunks against the frame.Good Luck !

Front suspension noise-dull rattle-thumping sound,bumpy roads

look at the front lower engine mount. I had similar noise which has been driving me nuts, thought may be thesway bar links, put it on friends hoist and saw that the front engine mount (mounted to bottom of lower radiator support) was cracked and the rubber bushing inside very worn with pieces missing. odd thing is that reving, or putting into gear never caused it to make a noise, just certain bumps. I ordered part from Autozone, hopefully it gets here before the holiday week end is over.
Good luck

Sounds like a broken shock rattle orstrut loose when you go over bumpy roads dealer says front end is tight but noise is still there driving me crazy

Check engine mounting rubbers or bushes. If worn or loose they can cause noises like this. Shouldn't happen in an 08 though. Check things like the battery strap is tied down and the fuse box cover is secured.

When i am driving over a rough terrain or i hit a bump the back end sways and swerves even when i slow down prior to hitting a bump or going over a bumpy road what causes this problem

Could be your shocks are no good and need replaced or if you have rear springs check to make sure there are no broken leaves in the springs.

1997 camry rattling noise when driving over bumpy road also right front door hinge loose

Not a very detailed description, but assuming the rattle is in front it may be bad shocks. A quick test would be to push down hard on the left fron of the car and let go, if the car springs back up and just stays there the shock is fine but if it comes up and dips down once again the shock is bad, it should come straight back up and stay there. Repeat on the other side.
If it were a knocking noise it would possibly be a ball joint.
Hope this helps.

Rattling noise

the most common source of rattles is the exhaust system and the shocks being loose.

Terrible rear end rattle

It's probably the rear sway bar links. If you can jack your car up and check right behind both rear wheels you will be abale to see the sway bar which is connected to short links about 5in long with ball joints.

If either of them are broken or not connected anymore it can cause some pretty loud noises when you ride on rough roads or hit bumps. They run about $35 per link so it's not a very expensive repair.

its probably your bump stops. the vw ones are very soft. i bought ford escort (the shape after the xr3) ones and cut them a little down to fit. i think the noise is either your shock touching or the sound of the tire scraping the body of the car. hope this helps.

2001 pt cruiser hear a thump noise

This is either caused by a wore out strut/shock in the rear of the car or a broken spring.
