I'm going to assume the temp sensor is reading normal ? And there is no restriction in the return line to the tank ? Any chance there is excessive fuel in the oil ?
test clogged or broken fuel lines or filter. 2) faulty fuel pump , before to go to the carburetors 3) readjust the throttle , incorrectly adjusted 4) readjust the carburetor accelerator pump to mett the manufacturer specifications. 5) readjust the carburetor flot setting to m. specification 6) leaking power valve, gasket or accelerator pump, repair or replace God bless you
Nice story Can't guess at your vehicles issues Be at the shop & see first hand what testing is done & how the result were obtained Smelling gas has nothing to do with a fuel pump, unless the tank gasket leaks Ask what tests resulted in that conclusion.
If it idles but bogs when the accelerator is pushed, it has carb issues(if it has been sitting for a long time probably has carb issue) or low fuel pressure. If its low fuel pressure then it could be a bad/clogged fuel filter, fuel flow problems from the tank to the fuel pump, or a bad fuel pump.
Fuel filter is inside the gas tank and its built into the fuel pump housing. You need to remove the back seat and get into the tank via access hole under the seat. Than you need to "split" the fuel pump assembly open and get the filter out. Reverse procedure to assemble. Those filters are rated for 105k miles. My 00 Maxima has 167K on it and it runs just fine with the original. As far as the air flow meter , its a pretty common part that fails and that's why 00 Max air flow meter costs only $100 and all others $500 or more. If you replace an air flow meter, make sure that you use a "NISSAN" air filter or YOU WILL BE replacing the air flow meter AGAIN. Also with the new air flow meter the cars ECM/Computer needs to be reprogrammed. As far as plenum gaskets leaking?? unless someone had it apart and didnt put it back together the right way, its "VERY UNLIKELY" for those gaskets to be bad. Totally bullet proof.
The fuel pump is on top of gas tank inside, you have to lower the tank, unless is mounted on gas tank side, follow fuel lines, thy are two, one main and one return, the fuel filter is on the main under driver
