I never had the encoder motor or sensor or sw replaced I took in when the message appeared but I refused service to check out the problem myself.

The other day when I started the truck the netural light on the sw was blinking but the truck was in 2 wheel drive also the service 4wd light came on. I drove like this for about 1/4 mile then stoped and put the trans in park as I did that the 2 wheel light came on the sw and the service 4wd light went out whats the matter?

2001 chevy silverado 6l 1500hd I have the same problem the service 4wd light comes on then it goes out. Today we had some snow,I shifted {pushed button} and now it feels like the transfer case is starting to feel tight and will NOT come out of 4wd or go into 2wd or 4 low. I have purchased 2nd hand a new to me controller motor for $250 Canadian but havent had time to install it yet do you think this will resolve the problem???

If you had the switch and encoder motor replaced 5 months ago, then you have warranty. You need to return to the dealer and have them pull codes to see if it is the C0327 again. Some of these trucks also had grounding issues for the 4wd module. If it is the same c0327 code stay on them and make them confirm their original diagnosis.

Sorry, did not read close enough. DTC C0327 relates improper feedback voltage from the encoder switch in the shift motor. You do not have to replace the entire shift motor. GM started offering the encoder switch by itself because they got tired of buying $400 encoder (shift) motors under warranty. Don't know what the bulletin number is but I'm pretty sure there is a TSB for this concern.

Hi,
Go search on a Chevy Forum, but likely the solenoid that shafts the transfer case is faulty. You might try resetting it by disconnecting the Neg. battery connection overnight....IF your truck has an alarm or radio key code you MUST know how to reset these b4 disconnecting the battery!!

1998 Chevy Suburban - service 4wd light comes on after running 4x4 for 2 mins

Well it could be the selector switch, but I doubt it.
Generally, the service light means something is not working that the computer controls. Solenoids and valves are a couple of possibilities.
The transfer case is shifted by solenoids commanded by the body computer based on the switch position on the dash.
You should be able to have a shop scan the body computer for trouble codes and proceed from there.
A basic code reader may not access the body computer.

I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado. I put the truck in 4WD and it would not come out finally it came out after messing with the buttons a while. The service 4WD was on and then stayed on. I've been dealing...

The service 4WD was on and then stayed on ???? DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored when that message show's . There is a control module (computer) That makes this 4X4 system work . It's a module problem.

I have a 02 Chevy Z71 1500. I locked it in 4lo and now my (service 4wd) light is on and the lights on my panel for my auto, 2wd, 4hi and 4lo don't work. Plus it will not come out of 4lo. Any answer's?

Okay the motor for the 4x4 got stuck in 4LOW, Can you accsess the 4x4 motor switch,at see if that will retract the motor and default to 2 wheel drive because the switch itself went bad and wont disengage. see if that will help if not youll just have to by pass the switch and trigger to its normal position make sure its in neutral also

Battery light came on then it went off what is the problem

I would say that if the light only lit up for a short time and went off, there is nothing to worry about. The car may have just used a more power than usual for some task or the alternator may have stoped working efficently for a second. Whatever may have caused it, I wouldnt be too concerned if the light only came on once and went off by itself. If the light comes on again and goes off, or if it stayes on, then you may have a problem. Otherwise, I would say dont be too concerned.

The Service 4wd light used to go on and off

Drive in circles, one direction then the other and it should come out...Gears get preloaded and will remain so until this load is released...

The engauge/disengauge control does not have power to overcome gear preload.

4wd light says service

Does the 4-wheel drive work ? Most of the time, it is a reminder to have your fluid changed. Other times, it could be a vacuum leak in the line that engages the 4-wheel drive. Check both of those first.
