Have a 1990 mazda mx-6 it starts up then dies out after a few seconds. it seem that it not getting gas or the timing isn't correct it losses rpms fast.
SOURCE: 1991 Mazda MX-6 starts and it dies within 30 seconds or less.
Check to see fi your fuel pump is functioning, also change the fuel filter. I had this same problem on a 1984 626. While i waited for the car to restart fuel would seep into the line to allow for the enging to startbe that was it.
SOURCE: starts up and dies
Let me explain real quick the fuel pump circuit, when you crank to start that is a straight circuit to the pump via a fuse in most cases, when the engine starts and you release the key the fuel pump relay is energized and keeps the fuel pump running, it sounds like the fuel pump run relay may be the problem with your car, replace it or bypass it to test, if you don't understand how a bosch relay is wired don't jump it yourself, you can burn up the wiring.

The very first thing to do is replace the ignition wires. These were a very common problem on Miatas. Since you're taking them off, it would be a good idea to change the plugs as well. These things are really just maintenance, but one other thing to check is the condition of the intake hose. It is critical that the hose that runs between the throttle body and the airflow meter has no cracks or flaws. Sometimes they are hard to see because the hose has creases in it. It's a good idea to take the hose off and inspect it carefully. If it is broken in anyway, the airflow meter won't know how much air is entering the engine and fuel will be cut off.

The timing belt has broken. Fortunately though, according to my catalog, this is not an interference engine and the engine should not be damaged internally.
