Question about 1987 Volkswagen Golf
Getting the right parts for VW's can be tricky, sometimes even the dealers can have trouble getting the right part.
take the alternator back, and get more info on you car, such as VIn number, manufacture date . also check if there are any part numbers on the old alternator.
there is usually a build sticker on the driver's side door jam which lists actual manufacture date & where the car was built. german & mexican VW's often have different parts. WV has multple sources for parts, so there can be a variety of parts found in there cars. also parts can change within production years for the cars.
