There are 3 machine bolts that hold the big white part of the head light to the truck. These bolts are black and I think 7/16 but not completely sure, maybe 12mm or so. You'll need sockets, ratchet and a really long extension. Two regular extensions won't reach the bottom one. You get to all three of them from the front of the truck straight in. Once those are out, the head light assembly pulls forward and can dangle from about 10-12 inches of extra wire. This is attached to the bulb harness. 1/3 of a turn and the wire and bulb come out of the head light. Pop the new bulb back in WITH GLOVES, do not touch those halogens. And put it back together. You can use peanut butter in a deep well or regular socket to hold the screws in to get them started, or the rag thing.
It took me 14,607 hours to find these bolts and about 10 minutes to do the job! Hope it helps out!

Look at the back of the light. You will find a plug[wires] and a clip holding the bulb in. When replacing the bulb, Do Not touch it with bare hands!!! Any gloves are fine. Frankster016

I'm sorry! I did not build this truck you know. In fact I owned two!! Will Never buy another!! EVER Just way too difficult to work on! Even changing the oil filter on the 92 diesel 3.1 was a major!!

You can try to remove the complete light unit if you feel it too much trouble to get at the back. Frankster016

Check the headlight relay under the hood in the fuse box. They will stick when they get old. The diagram in the fuse box lid will tell you which relay is the horn, headlights, etc.

2001 dodge durango headlights keep flashing fast, changed bulb & checked ground. Where are the relay switches?

The circuit has a central timer module that is behind the driver side kick panel. The module would need to be tested with a meter.

headlight cover does not have to be removed. Open your hood and reach in to the back of the headlight assembly grasp the main headlight plug and pull while turning counter clockwise. the bulb should come out with the plug, the bulb will then unclip from the plug, good luck

Dodge Durango headlights

the headlight bulbs are accessed from under the hood behind the haeadlight assembly. they are removed by grabbing the plug on the back of the headlight assembly and pulling while turning counter clockwise. if you are replacingthe whole headlight assembly there are two 10mm bolts, one is under the headlight above the bumper, the other is behind the headlight and can be acessed by lifting the hood to move the grille and reach in next to the head light.. good luck hope i could help
