How do i fix the whining noise my 2009 kia sorento makes

may be your power steering pump whining. Check fluid first, then if it's up, start the car up and have someone turn the wheel back and forth a few times. Listen to see if there is more or less noise when this happens. Does the noise go away after it warms up?

I have a 2009 Buick Lacrosse. After a year of driving with no issues, it has a very loud whining noise every time I crank it and never stops until I turn off engine. Does it in drive and park and at all...

The most common source of the whine is the power steering pump is low on fluid or the pump is defective. Check the owner's manual for instructions on how to check the fluid in the pumps reservoir.

Car will not turn over on first try

Hey Ben, the lacrosse has several modules that all need to agree in order for the vehicle to crank and run, it's not like the old days when u were actually powering up the starter by the key via the switch, but any time a issue is recorded the control module will usually store a trouble code even though you may not have any warning lights on, take it in and have it checked for any codes, oh and it will need to be a dealer, the little auto part stores can only check certain codes, the will not be able to even scan for theft style codes as you most likely have.

Power steering makes high whining noise I had the fluid changed and it did not help the situation. what is next

Change the power steering pump if it bothers you a lot. Otherwise, if power steering performance is ok, and you only notice a whining noise, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

2006 Buick Lacrosse with 63,000 miles. Whining noise expecially when first driving car. Especially when turning corners but also on the straight. Usually gets better when driven 5 miles or so.

Its probably the power steerinng pump. they do this sometimes when they are cold. has to work a little harder. this is normal. you might check the fliud just to make sure it is full.

Whining when i press gas

normally, the only part of your automatic transmission that will make a whining noise is the pump. it usually whines when iether the fluid is low or more commonly when the transmission oil filter is getting plugged up.

the power steering pump will also make a whining noise too.

turn the wheel all the way to the right and hold steady pressure against the stop. this puts maximum force on the power steering pump and, if the power steering pump is the one making the whine, it will change the sound of it. (usually louder).

if the trans pump is making the whine noise, it should sound different in neutral compared to drive. this test will really only work if it make the noise without the vehicle moving. if it wont do it at idle hold the rpms at 2000 or so.

if you decide the noise is coming from the transmission, and the transmission filter has not been replaced (assuming you installed a used transmission), replace the filter by removing the oil pan.

oh and also, if it is the power steering pump you should be able to make it make the whining noise while the vehicle is stationary. if it wont make noise unless its moving its not the power steering pump.
