I recently put a new sound system including a capacitor in my 91 dakota sport truck, several days later, while running, suddenly wipers won't shut off, marker lights won't shut off, tach don't work, left blinker indicater stays on steady, when I turn left turn signal on truck spits sputters and try's to die. I forgot, battery indicater shows overcharging. When I come to a stop the truck seems like it wants to die. Can someone tell me what could possibly be the problem?

1991 without an ECM unit is strange unless you have an older version of the engine installed
you say it has a mass air flow sensor but no CPS( crank position sensor )so that indicates that the spark timing is generated in the pick up in the distributor body amplified by the coil and then distributed out to the plugs
no spark at the plugs will necessitate checking the rotor button is turning, the distributor cap has not track marks to ground the spark out or that the coil is in effect operational
check for 12 volts at the coil terminal while trying to start and 7.5 volts at the coil when the key is in the run position
you could have a problem ignition switch or blown fuse for the ignition circuit
Fuses do not cause electrical problems - electrical problems case blown fuses. You most likely have a bad connection somewhere or a charging system problem that is making the computers do weird things. The thing to do would be to do a THOROUGH check of your starting and charging system FIRST. Then, ONLY if the starting/charging system receives a "clean bill of health", scan your ENTIRE computer network, including the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Antilock Brake System (ABS) module, Body Control Module (BCM) and any other available modules on your vehicle for fault codes and diagnose according to any fault codes retrieved. Please note that a scan of the entire network is recommended because a power-related fault in one module will usually be reported by another module. (The modules rarely ever tell on themselves.) Clues/codes should be collected from ALL modules to aid in an accurate diagnosis.
Firstand foremost, this snota problem for a echanic tooodagnose. Ifurbatery isdrainng, u shouldcek to cifur charging system is functioningproperly. Ifur ABS lite iscoming on, probaly during dis-assemby, something went wrong witur sesors. check it out with someone knowledgeable and experienced
91 to 93 can have the same 6 lug pattern. the 89 is strickly a 5 lug. The axles from the 89 will not fit in the 91 differential. Yes it would be easier on you to change out the whole thing and change it to a 5 lug truck. Good luck, from a Chrysler parts employee.
