Question about 1999 Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

Skipping my navigator is skiping while still. While driving It kind of feels like the tire is flat. When I drive about 20-25 mile and get out of the car it smells like a fire craker that has just been shot.

What could cause my 2006 sonata to feel like it has a flat but the tires are fine?

Nylon tires have been known to do this in cold weather till they warm up from driving a few miles.Check all your tires.

Why are tires that have flat spots from sitting over a year not safe to drive on?

Any imperfections or flat spots will be worked out after you drive a few miles to get some heat into them. Some tires even develop flat spots overnight. It's normal for pretty much all tires...Keep driving on them, may take 500 miles of easy driving...It may make you nuts listening to the noise until they round out after some driving...saailer

The skiping of the tires is normall, especialy if you are on dry pavment. This is due to the fact that both tires are turning at the same speed as each other but travling at diffrent speeds. Thats why on the rear end, there is a differential, so the two tires turn at diffrent speeds so you don't get the skip or wheel hop as its commonly reffed as. As far as the overheating , I would look at the thermal fan clutch as not pulling enough air while sitting, but as you go down the road you get ram air to cool.

i want you to feel all 4 tires, feel for lots of flat spots. feel all the way around them. they might have flat spots on them. this will cause this noise. you neer to rotate your tires at 3,000 miles front to back. this will stop them from cupping out. thats what the tire store calls it. have your tires checked for balance when you rotate them. your tire with flat spots will make a good spare tire. switch the bad one to your spare to see if the noise gets changes

The car jutters when driving over 60km/hr

Posible problems , listed from cheapest to most expensive.

Tires out of ballance
Broken chord in a tire
Bent rim
Loose ( worn ) tie rod ends
Bent axle
Wheel bearings ( but not likely)

If you have the tools , and a good safe flat driveway , jack up 1 corner of the car , spin the tire by hand and watch if it spins true , or wobles. while your at it , firmly grab the tire , and try to wiggle it side to side , in and out , back and forth. Repeat process for each wheel. If everything seems ok , I would think about getting tires ballanced. Probly about $ 12 each.
General observation is that if you feel the shake in the steering wheel , front tires are the problem , If you feel it on your bottom , rear tires. Good luck with that.
If you want to skip the whole jacking up the car proceedure , go directly to the wheel ballancing , and ask the mechanic to keep an eye out for "wheel out of true" while they spin on the ballancer.

Take the car to a garage that has a computer. I had the same problem and it turned out to be the idler solenoid that is located on top of the engine on the fuel injector port. The computer will diagnose the problem in a short time.

This is the flat tire light. either your tires are low on pressure or the flat tire light button is stuck down. if your tires are low refill to same pressure I usually use 35 psi. then start the car stay parked. depress the flat tire button located either under the ebrake or just to the right of the ebrake. hold for 10 sec. then drive car for 5-10 min do not drive hard. drive on normal roads 25 -35 mph then drive on the highway. If the button is stuck find some kind of electrical cleaner and just keep trying to clean it till it no longer sticks down.
