Question about 2002 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Power off my car stopped running suddenly for no reason. i turned on the engine and all the power in the car went off. i jumped it. it worked again just fine for a week. then turned off completely again. tried jumping it again. it didnt work. towed it home and today before i tried changing the battery, the car powered on fully without and runs fine. Could this be an electrical problem or a fuse? what could cause the car to turn off for no reason and turn back on? it was not overheating.

Double check your battery connections & make sure they are all clean & tight, and don't forget to check other end of ground, not just positive. be sure to take a good look at the ends for wire deteriorating at connections. I have seen batteries short out like that, so battery is certainly a possibility, but eliminate the other posibilities first/too. You might find a ground strap ( flat braided strap) going from passenger side frame area, to engine, make sure that's in good shape & connected to a good ground too.

Sir if the starter is not even turning im sorry to inform your engine might be broken. Lack of oil could be the reason. I d reccomend to send to a mechanic shop inmediately.

Polo gti battery light wont start

Sounds like your alternator is not working, if you can get the engine running and have access to a volt meter check the voltage on the battery terminals, With the engine running you should see in excess of 13V

Ac quit working right after speedometer quit working around 60 mph. the rpms after i got off the interstate started to jump and my steering wheel seemed hard to turn

Hello, The reason why it was hard to steer was the engine wasn't running. The rpm, seedo, air condition, power steering does work if the engine has died. First check to see the belts are on the pulley and rolls in the engine carpment. If they are on and not broken then you other problem.

Will you car start, if doesn't. You could have run out of fuel?. Power steer pressure valve is faulty, broke a timing belt, run out of oil and the engine quit working. Engine got hot and stopped.

If it not starting, call a wrecker have them take to a garage of your choice. GB...stewbison

I would say that you need to replace the alternator. The car was running on the batteries power. When you drove the car, it ran the battery completely dead.

Engine won't turn over.

I'm afraid what you're describing sounds like your bearings went out. Your engine is probably seized up or blown. There is no cheap or easy fix for this problem, your engine will have to be rebuilt or replaced.

You said you tightened the battery cables, did you check the other end of the negative where it bolts to the engine. When you tightened the cables you also used a battery brush and cleaned the posts and ends?

Your problem is either the Alternator isent charging its 13.5 volts and the battery is flat or wont hold the charge SO do this.
Jump start engine again let it run for 2 minutes then turn on lights,, the head lights should go bright at 13.5 volts. it engine cuts out..and the lights dont go bright,, then the Alternator is not charging,,,, If they go bright and still cuts out the batterys NO GOOD.
Replace battery or get it checked outit must hold 12volts all the time Let me know how you get on.
