I have a 2002 caviler w. 78000 miles. yesterday i went to start it and it was just making a clicking noise i had my battery replaced and it started for me 3 times last night. today i went to start it and it wouldn't start. it isn't making the clicking noise. it seems like it wants to start but it wont. when i do finally get it started for the first few seconds the car shakes. i also had my alternator checked they said there were no problems w. it. Any ideas of what it may be before i spend more money trying to figure it out. I think this maybe a problem w. cavilers because a friend of mine has the same model and year and hers does the same thing.

If its not your starter then its the ignition switch located between your positive battery cable and your starter solinoid. Also advanced associates are not the most Car-smart people. i can not tell you how many times some one has told me there car makes a clicking noise and they have already had the starter tested, well i hate to inform you its your starter. because you have a radio, a/c, windos, locks, power steering, radiator fans, ect. you have all this power robbed from the solinoid on top of the starter, so when they test your starter, its not a proper test becuase the machine that tests the start does not account for all that power loss.
A code 44 on a 1999 caviler ? for 1999 the code should be like a po**** type of code, unless the is the wrong year. a code 44 for an older caviler is the code for a lean exhaust this would be like a 1995 and older, check the engine for any vacuum leaks, listen for any hissing noise you may have a broken or disconnected vacuum hose, if no leaks are found then replace the oxygen sensor, this should take care of the problem is no vacuum leaks are found.
Squirt starting fluid in intake and try to start if it starts and then dies you have a fuel delivery problem. Make sure you check the fuses for a blown fuse namely fuel pump or fuelpump relay. If it doesnt start after squirting starting fluid in the intake check for spark at the plug wires and coil.
never did it in a 2002 chvy first off...go to napa...or what ever your local part store is and buy a manual...easy repair...the manuel gives pictures...you replace one end from under the hood...the other you may have to get under the car...if your skinny no prob..if not ...get some jacks...book will explain all..easyl..repair...
If the engine light is on, a code scanner needs to be connected to it to find out why the light is on. It could be one of the sensors causing it. Take to autozone or advanced auto if there is one near you, if not call a repair shop that can do it. Autozone and advanced don't charge. Takes about 30 seconds.
