Question about 1999 Ford Taurus

99 ford taurus will not start

Car worked the night before. Went out next morning and it would not start. Does not seem to be getting gas. Pull fuel line before filter and no gas. Changed fuel pump and still not starting or seeming to get gas.

What are some results of faulty fuel pressure? What will changing the fuel filter or fuel pump do? What are symptoms?

Changed fuel pump in gas tank. Still won't start. Seems like it's not getting fuel.

Buy a can of carburator cleaner, spray into duct area while cranking engine. Does engine try to start(fire)? If so, find inertia switch (button in trunk). 'reset button just by pushing it. If this switch was triped, fuel injectors or fuel pump will not operaate. If spraying carb cleaner does not help starting then fuel pressure should be checked to rule out fuel delevery problem. AS a precaution, make sure your useing the correct key(original). Security problems also shut off fuel.

99 Taurus wont start unless primed. Fuel pump is working

Check/Change Fuel Filter(s), PVC Valve & Emission Hoses
and/or
Gas that sits too long won't fire easily that's why we have to add winterize to our lawn mowers!
Try filling the tank with some high grade fuel cleaner additive. This stuff is like rocket fuel (about $10).
Also add a can of dry gas as you may have a lot of water and water vapor in your system!
Get a couple more cans of starter fluid too. (I always needed at least two to get my diesel running for summer)
Keep spraying and starting (It always took me at least a full can sometimes 2)
When it starts keep the gas pedal down and rev high for a good 5-10 minutes then see if it will idle.
If it still stumbles and falls consider adding another can of fuel system cleaner and/or dry gas.
Don't drain the tank as this usually just makes it worse by letting the bottom sludge stir up.
Never let your gas tank get too low as this will foul up your fuel system and always add fuel cleaner after every oil change (a must for fuel injection and cat. converter care)

Good Luck!

1995 ford taurus will not start at times and later starts fine

Sounds like the Fuel Pump, which is located in the Gas Tank, ahead of the rear wheels, basically under the rear door. The gas tank itself is not hard to remove, and you could get a kit available online. It's probably easier to do if you have ramps and back the rear wheels onto those two ramps, you can't do it as easily by just jacking up the car. If you have two hydraulic jacks, that might work as well.

If you buy the part, you want to bring it to a gas station to remove the gas tank, they should be able to do all the work for you in about one hour.

2002 ford taurus won't start at first crank in the morning

remove the air filter housing from the throttle body, or if its mult-ported injection, remove the large air duct. Do this the night before. The next day, before cranking and having a spray can of carb. cleaner, spray a couple of shots of carb cleaner either into the large air duct, spray towards the engine, or if its single body injection, spray directly on to the throttle body.

Crank engine immediately, preferrably have some one else sitting in the car to start it after you spray.

If the car even tries to start, replace cold start relay.
