2 things come to mind check the negative terminal of battery and the ground wire connected to engine location varies where they connect these but will always originate from neg on battery a quick check to see if you have a proper ground connection is to take one booster cable and connect to neg post on battery and connect the other end to the engine on clean metal (be sure to keep clear of moving parts ) start engine and see if you have pressure on gage if so you must clean ground connection to engine .if this does not correct possible bad sending unit in side of block with one wire connected to it . caution ** temperature sending unit look similar so make sure with one you are taking out
