Question about 1990 Isuzu Trooper

Hose that attaches to back of thermostat housing is leaking

I have the 4 cyl (2.6) 5 speed. The hose that leads from the back of the thermostat housing and disappears under the fuel injection chamber is leaking. I can see where it goes from there. The repair shop wants $200 to replace a heater(?) hose. I can see where the hose connects to the back side of the thermostat housing but it goes down into the abyss. I tried looking from underneath looking up but still cant see where it goes. Does anyone know where this hose leads. If I could see or find out where it leads I could locate the bottom connection and replace it. HELP !!!

The hose is a cooling by-pass hose. It makes a big horseshoe and attaches under the front of the intake maniold. I think that if you have small hands and a lot of patience you can likely replace it without haveing to take half the engine apart. (You have to pull the head to pull the intake manifold).
I think if you remove the battery, and have a small bright light you will be able to see where if attaches under the front of the intake manifold. Advance auto sells the by -pass hose for
around $12.00 I think.

Becare if you are probing around there are way too many vaccum lines under the manifold.
If they come off and you don't know where to put them -- you are in deep kim chee. I know I am
in super deep Kim chee now.

Hope this helps

could be leaking at the top radiator hose going to thermostat, that is a hard spot to see leak remove the air filter and air filter housing look below throttle body you see thermostat housing, check for leaks around thermostat housing gasket and check for leak at the top radiator hose going to radiator and thermostat.if all is good check all radiator hoses for leaks check small coolant lines going to throttle body for leaks and check make sure bleeder screw on thermostat housing not loose it will leak also check around radiator and water pump heater bypass metal lines for leaks.

Replace a thermostat on a 2002 pontiac grand am 4 cyl

The thermostat will be located where the top radiator hose meets the block. You must disconnect the house and remove the housing that the hose connects to. Should be 2 or 3 bolts.

Location of thermostat on a 2006 Equinox

Just follow the upper radiator hose and it will lead you directly to the thermostat housing. The housing should have 2 or 3 bolts. Usually 3. Under the housing is the thermostat.

Cant find thermostat on 93 model fuel injection

Your thermostat is located under a metal housing on the top of the engine. The upper radiator hose connects to this housing. To change the thermostat you basically need to drain the radiator after your engine is cold, disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine, and remove the bolts from the small housing. replace the thermostat, and clean the surfaces on both sides and replace the gasket too. reinstall the housing, attach the hose, and refill the radiator. start the engine, warm it up and check for leaks, then re check the coolant level after the engine cools off again.

Location of thermostat 2003 Mitsubetsi Eclipse 4

The thermostat is found at the end of the top radiator hose . Find the top radiator hose and follow it to the engine .There you will find a thermostat housing with the end of the hose attached . There will be 2 bolts holding down the housing to the engine. Undo the bolts and pull the housing off and the thermostat will be there.

I need to find the thermostat on my 91 mercededs 350sd. The vehicle was over heating due to a leak in a coolant hose. The hose has been replaced yet the car still overheats. The thermostat is my next best...

First the thermostat is at the end of that top hose leading to the engine under that bulbus cover. Next ideas are this, A/C must be charged to let the low speed fan run, The strip fuse for the aux fan must not be blown for any speed fan to work and the temp cutout on the thermostat housing must be good to turn on the high speed of the fan.

Leaking water and releasing pressure help!!!

Follow the top radiator hose, to the housing on the engine. That's the thermostat, it is actually 2 housing bolted together. remove the 2 bolts, and pull up on the housing. Flip it over and check the gasket. If it's bad, it will leak coolant all over the injectors.
