Yes its expensive ,so disconnect the oil cooler pipes from the rad then buy some copper pipe about a 1/4 then make a nice few tubes with a plumbers pipe bender and make it fit infront of the rad or the ac rad where applicable then use a compression joint to connect it all up this will work just as well ,seal up the oil connection on the radiator with a couple of blanking plugs and away you go

SOURCE: leak between the engine and the gearbox

Try using high mileage oil and lucas additive...If leak is not too bad, that may soften and swell seal enough to stop it. To do seal correctly engine must come out.
Try it...It may help!!!

SOURCE: My Volvo is overheating and mixes the engine oil

the oil that you are seeing may be transmission fluid if its an automatic, the transmission lines go through the radiator for cooling.if the radiator fails in that section ,it could be leaking into the antifreze,or you have a blown head gasket

SOURCE: oil mixed with water in coolant

Head gasket would be your only problem, the oil cooler normally is cooled by air and not water.

My car 2003 c230 kompressor engine oil and coolant mix at the coolant resevoir tank after i done the head job still the same problem

Does it have a motor oil cooler cooled by motor coolant that could have possibly leaked thru? Transmission fluid cooler?
Was there tell tale on the replaced head gasket indicating a leak?
Condition of a replacement head is important, with no warps, cracks.

Oil mixing in reservoir

the most common fault for this is the oil cooler, where the oil filter screws on ,these fail inside and allow oil and water to mix, usually in the coolant system, not a big job or cost to fix, unusual for head gaket to blow on these engines.I worked with Audi for 15 years and cannot remember any A4's that had a head gasket issue.

Hi, i have automatic passat 1999 model and recently water happens to get into the gear box and it control board, i experiences a boom sound anytime the gear is changed, the oil has been changed by the...

If no external leak and the transmission fluid colour looks white, the problem belongs to the automatic gearbox oil cooler. The oil cooler has broke mixing the gearbox oil and coolant causing this milkshake. It's a small radiator core type oil / water heat exchanger. It is cracked inside and transmission oil is mixed with engine coolant. Because the transmission oil pressure is greater than engine coolant pressure, the transmission fluid level drops. Oil cooler blew up.. what does it cost to replace?

Why did it blow up...corrosion or overpressure.? If it was overpressure you need a new oil pump too.

If it was corrosion you need someone to check to see if the oil filter mount is okay to receive a new cooler and 'O' ring.

Usually the 'O' ring gets hard and cracks letting oil escape. 'O' lives between the oil cooler and filter mount. Most shops can do the job and cost depends where you are but assume around $200 or so
labour and same for parts .. I did one recently and job ran $290.00 but I didn't need to check oil pressure or change oil pump because 'O' ring had split.

Common problem with oil cooler is internal corrosion and oil and coolant mixing. Results in Mayonnaise on the dip stick and oil filler cap..corrosion is caused by infrequent coolant changes and/or wrong coolant or too little coolant antifreeze.

Use a Prestone Universal Antifreeze for yours.

Oil in coolant.had head gasket done.but the problems still ther

either you havent flushed the cooling system out properly ,or the oil cooler has packed up ,their is a oil cooler radiator of sorts that the oil filter screws onto ,these often leak ,just remove the water pipes and join them together with a small piece of copper pipe ,then if you see oil coming out of the water pipes fit a new cooler

On a 2.5 range rover does the coolant and gearbox oil flow through the one radiator

No the coolant radiator is a sealed system, oil and water do not mix; as far as I am aware manual gearboxes do not have coolers.

If you have oil in your coolant water this will be an engine problem. Check the engine oil is not frothy and caramel coloured.

If your gear box oil is is a brown colour or dirty looking, this is due to water ingress, either through the breather hose or seals, try changing the fluid. If you can check the seals and breaher hose.

Suggest you get a owners manual and Haynes or workshop manual.
There are plenty of free files on line, do a search on Google, Alltheweb, Lycos, etc

What is the cooling agent used for the transmistion cooling? is it oil? There is an oil type substance coming from the radiator area.

The transmission cooler is mounted either in front of the coolant radiator or it is part of it. The auto transmission oil comes from the gearbox (hot) via small pipes it is then passed through the cooler and back into the gearbox. If you have signs of oil around the front of the radiator then you need to get it looked at ASAP. If you loose too much fluid you will damage the transmission and if the cooler splits you may end up with engine coolant in the transmission oil (not good as it will screw up your transmission very quickly)
