Changed my fuel pump and it starts for about 5 seconds and quits check grounds and it still wont run,can you help please
A lot of GM vehicles will start for a few seconds then turn off, it's due to the VAT System. Vehicle Anti-theft System. The most common procedure to relearn the key to the BMC is to: 1.Put key in turn to the ON position, security light should come on and stay on, wait 10 minutes, light should go out.
2. Turn Key off, wait five seconds.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2; 3 times, it will take you 30 minutes to do this, but I've have multiple vehicles that this solved the problem. It's most common when changing wiring harnesses, BCM's, and steering columns.
4. After the third cycle of turning the key on and off for the appropriate amount of time, you should be able to crank it over and it will stay running.
Keep in mind, this is if you're fighting a computer problem,not general maintenance. Hope this helps!

When you hook the pressure test guage to shrader valve on fuel rail what it reads is what the pressure is from pump, around 60 p.s.i. all you need to do is hook up the guage and turn on key, you do not have to turn engine over, and if pump is good it will shoot up to 58 or 60 right now.

the fuel pressure if leaking could cause this the regulator is located under the intake plenum but you should smell gas .if you dont then most likely the pump is bad ,the pump will come on for 2 seconds when the key is on then go off it will not stay on with just the key on only when you crank it will it .so have your fuel pressure checked with a gauge.

it turnd out too be the fuel pressure regulator,you have too pull the upper intake too replace it!!

The inline fuel pump fuse on the passenger side firewall is good? Are you jumping it with 12 volts at the test lead or the fuse?

you'll need a professional computer to reset how ever there are two relays for fuel on chevrolet
i would suggest finding the second one first
