Hi found this link when researching your post , it would appear the 2004 sienna has to go to a dealer to be programmed , follow this link and see what you think about it Toyota Transponder key programing
Try www.ikeyless .com it's a complicated process. If you R really determined U may have to remove the brain box and have it reprogrammed to match a different key. If U take it to a dealer they will charge you $$$ Ziilions to do it. There's no easy way the computer is very picky on which key it will allow to operate !
IS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.IF YES COULD BE FAULTY PCM.BUT HAVE CAR CODE SCAN TO MAKE SURE BECAUSE YOU COULD HAVE A FUEL SOAK CHARCOAL CANISTER , WEAK IGNITION SPARK, FAULTY FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR.AND LOW CYLINDER COMPRESSION ALL OF THESE THINGS WILL CAUSE BLACK RICH SMOKE MIXTURE.
My Chiltons manual for the toyota seinna 1998-2002 it says that with the lite always on means ecu malfunction and the action to take is ' ecu problem '. Sometimes these manuals leave a lot to be desired.
there appears to be a speed sensor on every wheel with the abs actuator assembly(including ecu) is attached to the brake booster.
the manual says. . . .The ABS computer(ECU) is mounted within the ABS actuator and is the ' brain' for the ABS system. The function of the computer is to accept and process information recieved from the wheel speed sensors to control the hydraulic line pressure, avoiding wheel lock up. The computer aslo constantly monitores the system, even under normal driving conditions, to find faults within the system.
If a problem develops within the system, an "ABS" light will glow on the dashboard. A diagnostic cod will also be stored in the computer and, when retrieved, will indicate problem area or component.
Keys are not all the same, it is possible the key you bought may not work, it should be searched by VIN by the dealer, and the dealer has to program with factory scan tool, should cost no more than .5 hours in labor.
