Question about 1994 Nissan Quest
I have a 1999 nissan sentra GXE (1.6 engine); recently with the cold weather (Chicago area), it takes approx. 5 minutes for the engine to warm up and to be able to shift the car out of the parking gear. Had to add some trans fluid recently (approx. 3-4 days ago) and the color before adding the fluid was a decent pink. Could this be the neutral safety switch going bad, or perhaps some kind of leak? this started happening approx. on 11/15/08. Once the car warms up, it seems to drive OK. Have been keeping tabs on the ATF level the last couple days and it seems OK.

Testimonial: "Yo got it. After taking it to 1 dealer, under warranty, who said "oh, they're all like that", the next deaaler replaced the tranmission. SOLVED!!!"
the problem is the park interlock safety mechanism is sticking,( keeps u from shifting out of park unless the brake is pressed) it has nohing to do with restarting the engine several times. Check and verify the brake lights work is the first thing to do.
