Question about 2002 Audi allroad

Audi allroad 2002 door doesn't lock when weahter gets cold

My car is 2002 audi allroad, and mileage is about 13,000.
My driver side door can't close since the weather gets cold. I found out the hook doesn't properly function. But it's not totally stuck, ever time I turn on the heater for a while or use some hot water to splash on it, it becomes good again?

The nearest garage who can fit audi is booked so full, I probably have to wait 2 weeks. So I am wondering does anyone has same experience or knows the reason? I will very be grateful to hear some possible solutions.

    have 2003 version with the same problem. I just phoned up Audi dealer assuming they would be aware of the problem as they have loads of cars that sit out on the forecourt in all weathers, but they said they had never had the same issue.
    They suggested a squirt of WD40.

I seem to be having the same issue on my 2001 allroad. I read the post before and just tried some WD-40. I will let you know how it works.

    WD-40 worked great. I sprayed the rest of the doors and everything is great

this can either be a bad cat or o2 sensor its the after cat downstream driver side you can either replace the o2 sensor or buy a spacer from 034 Motorsports to get rid of this problem or get a tune alls it does is checking if the cat is there for emissions will not effect gas mileage. Owner of Audi A6 2.7T 2001.B2 S1 is drivers side pre cat

B1 = Passenger side
B2 = Drivers side
S1 = Pre cat
S2 = Post Cat Example s1:b1

I have a 2001 Audi A6 and the driver side door takes about 10 tries to shut it. Inside if you roll down the window and shut it by pulling gently from the outside of the door it works every time but it's...

Since I have to guess based on your description, I would remove the inside door panel (carefully) and determine if something with the door latch mechanism has come loose or otherwise disconnected. You will likely find something cracked or broken that when the window is down there is less stress on that part, but window up may put too much stress on the part. It would be difficult to diagnose without seeing inside the door.

Possibly a faulty driver door switch. There is a function tied to switch allowing driver to open or close all windows through door switch.

I use 87 octane with Lucas Oil fuel additive. Car runs noticeably better, gets better mileage and solved problem with engine fouling in cold weather (which caused check engine light to trip). Audi dealer service rep told me that premium cold weather fouling has been traced to additives commonly used in premium fuel. That service rep "unofficially" recommends using 87 octane to customers experiencing problems with engine fouling in cold weather starts.
