Question about 2004 Lexus RX 330
When I stand behind the Suv I feel the smell of the smoke cominhg out of muffler. I feel if an emmission was done on it, it would not pass. I do not know the smell is not normal as it is from my honda Oddessy
If that does not work, which it probably will. you may want to have the catalytic converter checked. get scanned at Autozone for free.they will give you a code number. Cleaning up the system will remove deposits that are making it smell bad.

Run fuel cleaner through, do a tune up replacing these items: spark plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor. This will make sure you are firing all cylinders and no unburned exhaust gasses are escaping. Also, a bad oxygen sensor will make you fail your smog test. Most importantly, ensure your drive your car at highway speeds for around 30 min to ensure your catalytic onverter is hot. Cold cats will fail you every time.
