I had an issue like this with my mazda mpv 2000, It stalled out and wouldn't restart. I unplugged the air filter box and it started back up. Still to this day have no idea what is wrong with it.

If it is a v 6 timing belt has broken or check for fuel pump bang on tank with a rubber hammer very hard while some one is cranking engine. Ibelt was not changed at around 100000 this could be a problem. Hope this is a older mpv with a 3 litre engine

It could be your fuel pump, when you turn your key just befor your engine turns over you should hear your fuel pump engage, its a very faint electrical purr or buzz and a click its a very quiet sound,so if you listen for it the less background sound the better, and a AAA tow truck driver took a miny sledg hammer and banged around my gas tank under my van and it started up and I was able to get to a garage only to replace the fuel pump.Or you can wait till its dark out-side have someone start the engine while you have the hood up and see if you notice a spark anywhere, could be shorting out,or ive heard open your gas cap and try to start it,but im not sure what that would do.

I once had a 302 ford van that ran really bad going up a hill and I thought the transmission was dying. Turned out that my catylitic converter had broken apart and clogged so the truck wasn't exhausting at all. This will make a vehicle hard start and run bad, so make sure you feel the exhaust for pressure. Seems silly, I know but I've been there.

Hi i have a 1996 chevy astro van wont start

chk in line fuel filter for obstruction, also could be a lot of sediment in the tank clogging up the filter. Hope this helps you resolve your problem.

My van won't stay running. It starts and immediately quits running. The instrument panel does not even move. Can you help?

First thing I'd try is to have someone else try to start it while you tap (rather hard) on the bottom of the fuel tank. It's plastic so there's no danger. It's an old trick that works well on Chryslers. If the van starts/runs while your tapping/pounding and quits when you do, then it's a faulty fuel sending unit in the tank. If that doesn't help, I'll check back.

Hard to start any time of the day for 1994 Nissan Quest XE.

turn your key on, DO NOT TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL and start, good luck. Pumping the pedal doesn't do a thing for fuel injection. In thre days of carburetors and you had control of your own property, Pumping did a couple of things. It set the choke and added more fuel. But that was yesterday and yesterday's gone.

Bad gas van wont run

undo fuel pipe where it exits the fuel pressure regulater and turn engine over , use bucket and rag to catch pumped fuel , do this for half gallon and reconnect ,, then take spark plugs out and clean with easy start (eather) and replace , should start fine now ,

Ram van dies

sounds to me like the fuel pump is bad, when it warms up it dies, try to check this by filling the tank and running a while, then run the van with a near empty tank and see how it does. A full tank of gas should keep the fuel pump cool as it is surrounded by the liquid. I had a similar problem. when my tank got to about a quarter full (3/4 empty) the van would shut off after a short distance, then after sitting for a while would start up again get me a little farther then shut off again. i ended up changiung the fuel pump cost me almost $300. if this simple test shows no results the you got electrical problems, check distributor, and surrounding cables. good luck. also check your fuses could be dirty!

Acts like it can't get gas.

Your last sentence has me wondering, did u purchase gas for both vehicles at the same gas station? How far apart did u fill them up (same day, 2 days apart...) I am wondering if you got some bad gasoline. It would explain your problems and the coincidence of both vehicles giving u this type of problem. How about draining the gas out of the vehicle w/ the least in the tank, replace the fuel filter again add fresh gas from a different station. This is of course assuming your fuel pump is ok. When the gas is removed do u see any sediment? Any water would be at the bottom of the tank (gas floats on water) so u should check for water also. Let me know what u discover. good luck!! countrycurt0
