The scanner provides a preview image properly but reports an L-2 (lamp bulb burnout) error when trying to scan. The lamp bulb, however, continues to produce light throughout the scan attempt.

Error message looked like an "L", compressor not on, and controls were not working. Opened door, light did not turn on, freezer was warm & food thawed. Unplugged & replugged, seemed to reset w/ compressor running now. Last opened 1 week ago, no issues at that time.

Check all your fuses here a great diagram http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Electrical/1997_UP_Fuse_Identification.htm

Ihope that might help. The speed sensor is located under the vehicle onthe driverside. It faces towards out towards the outside of the vehicleand is located on the transfer case. You can take it out, a little oilmight spill out thats okay. check that and clean it up a little bit. This might help for a while but I would take it to a mechanic.

Speedometer doesn't work on 2002 jeep liberty

If the speedometer does not work but the odometer does, the problem is in the speedo cluster. If neither work, it may be the speed sensor on the side of the transmission.

Speedometer not working on my 2002 jeep liberty.

The routing of the speed sensor wires is located on the rear differential. The problem is that they rub on the E-brake cable and once the wire is exposed they short and the speedometer and any other options running off the speed sensor quit working and that includes the transmission shift points and can cause the torque converter to not unlock and cause stalls. We went to a dealer and got the replacement kit for $32.00. He also took the time to encase the wires in a plastic tubing to avoid this problem again.

I replaced the speed sensor on my 02 liberty and the problem still exists....what do I do???

Hi

Check if there fuses related to the speed sensor or speedometer. there could an expose cable that might have triggered the speedometer to work.

My guess is that the speed sensor has gone out or the wires that go to it have been knocked off somehow.

Instrument light on

That light comes on when you're in 4 wheel drive high. Should go off when you disengage your 4wd stick, or button.
