Question about 1994 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

1 Answer

Plug wires I somehow srcewed up putting on my new plug wires. It's a "94" 4.3 L CPI. If I'm looking at the engine and directly in front of the fan, how is the distributor arranged. Is it 2,4,6 on the left and 3,1,5 on the right? Please help. Thanks. Tom.

Your information was helpful but what I really wanted to know was if I was looking directly down at the distributor what would be the number one post, number two and so on. Maybe I wasn't specific enough in my question. I think I have other problems why it keeps missing. Thank you. Tom.

  • that is not going to be easy you are going to have to take out number 1 spark plug turn the engine over by tapping the key untill you fell compresion just stick your finger in the spark plug hole and have someone tap the key when you fell compressiion stop look at the timming mark and put it on 0 on compresion stroke then take off the distributor cap and it will be pointing to number 1 on the cap then go clock wize on the firing order you can google it if you dont have it it should be on the intake manifold

no they change the plug and wiring. if you want to put them on you need to swap your plug over to the other one/s look on line for the wiring code for both types and make the plug up from the wiring code.

Right at the coil is the ICM (ignition control module) These wire are known for poor male to female connection have some one crank it and you wiggle it to make contact,Also where the battery is is a power ground if that ground is corroded it will give code P1355.

Need to get my hands on a manual for a mazda b2600. Just put a new head gasket in it and the timing is all out.

take the spark plug out of the hole on the engine. the very front plug.
have someone bump the engine for you. take the cap off of the distributor, and when your friend bumps the engine watch the way the rotor is turning. i think its counterclock wise. but anyway, hold your finger over the spark plug hole and have the friend bump -bump- bump the key until the air pressure "Pssst" blows your finger out of the hole. thats the compression stroke of your engine. and right now its set to send a spark to that #1 piston.
SO look at the rotor, and pay attention to what direction the rotor is pointed. and when you put your distributor cap back on, your wire for #1 spark plug has to be pointed at the rotors tip, to get spark. so put cap back on, and then put #1 at the rotor tip, and remember what direction the rotor spins ? now put your spark plug wires on the cap to match the "firing order" The firing order is 1-3-4-2 with the cylinder closest to the front of the vehicle being #1 so if the rotor spins backwards . wherever the rotor tip is now ( since you bumped it to the compresson stroke ) on the #1 cylinder, you know where 1 is. now put #3 piston wire on the next plug, on the distributor then 4 , then 2. tighten everything, put the spark plug back in. and start your truck bro.

Check to see if the radiator fan is coming on when the van gets hot.If it does not then on a 2.6 liter engine.look on the bottom part of the radiator on drivers side for a fan switch that could be bad and not letting the radiator fan to come on. On a 3.0 liter engine the coolant temperature sensor is screwed into the thermostat housing. And on a 3.3 liter and on a 3.8 liter engine the coolant temperature sensor is screwed into the front cylinder head. Anyone of these can cause the van to run hot and eventually die with no restart until the temperature has cooled down. Check the fan first with two jumper wires from the positive/negative post to the fan connector on a 2.6 liter engine (positive wire to open pin on plug, negative wire to insulated plug side. On all v6 engines hook jumper wires to motor. To the left side will be positive and negative to the right. Do not let both wires touch together while testing. If motor does not respond to direct wiring then replace it. Another thing to look at is the catalytic converter on van. Check the exhaust flow when the van is running cold and again when it gets hot. If the flow starts to slow down when the van gets hot then remove the converter(plugging up). After doing that run the van again to see if the van runs ok. Hope this will help you.
