Question about 1985 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Rear tail lights won't go on

Hi,
I have a 1985 Honda Accord, the car is in great shape. Recently with the weather getting colder I noticed that my dash board lights don't go on right away and the car had to warm up for the lights to go on.

Come to find out, the rear tail lights don't work either, when I turn the lights on, I have no dashboard lights and no tail lights. When I run the car for some time and it heats up ince and warm, the dashboard lights go on and with that my tail lights.

When I have no tail/dashboard lights, my blinkers and breaks work just fine, I have headlights and interior lights when I open the door. The problem seams to be tied with my dashboard and tail lights and is intermitten.

Any suggestions are truly appreciated.

Thank you
Rodney

I have the same problem with my kia spectra 2004. Someone suggested a fuse or moisture getting in the dahboard and the heat dries it out thats why they come on after awhile. I'm looking for more suggestions.

Sounds like dampness is getting in somewhere around the dash board and is causing a short.when it heats up it dries out

Trunk leak-cant find the rear drains from sunroof

If water is in the trunk, then it is probably getting in through the rear tail lights. Common problem with early 90's Honda cars. To check, hose down the trunk area and tail lights, then look at the gaskets from inside the trunk. You'll probably will see some water. To fix, you need to take each tail light out and place a seal of silicon caulk between the body of the car and the tail light gasket and replace the tail lights. This should solve your water in the trunk problem.

Engine Lurching in Cold Weather on Highway

I recommend a trans fluid and filter change first. It definately sounds like the problem is in the trans. If it was any sort of engine component you would have had a check engine light on.

1996 Honda Accord Problem

There could be a simple break in the circuit , thats maybe why your licence plate lights are not working.

Just go to your local HONDA garage .

A sometimes cheaper solution you could see a qualified mechanic or car electrician.

Hope this helps .
